A Clinton Fan Manufactured Fake News That MSNBC Personalities Spread to Discredit WikiLeaks Docs
The Intercept ^

Posted on 12/09/2016 7:06:29 AM PST by TigerClaws

The phrase “Fake News” has exploded in usage since the election, but the term is similar to other malleable political labels such as “terrorism” and “hate speech”; because the phrase lacks any clear definition, it is essentially useless except as an instrument of propaganda and censorship. The most important fact to realize about this new term: those who most loudly denounce Fake News are typically those most aggressively disseminating it.

One of the most egregious examples was the recent Washington Post article hyping a new anonymous group and its disgusting blacklist of supposedly pro-Russia news outlets – a shameful article mindlessly spread by countless journalists who love to decry Fake News, despite the Post article itself being centrally based on Fake News. (The Post this week finally added a lame editor’s note acknowledging these critiques; the Post editors absurdly claimed that they did not mean to “vouch for the validity” of the blacklist even though the article’s key claims were based on doing exactly that).

Now we have an even more compelling example. Back in October, when WikiLeaks was releasing emails from the John Podesta archive, Clinton campaign officials and their media spokespeople adopted a strategy of outright lying to the public, claiming – with no basis whatsoever – that the emails were doctored or fabricated and thus should be ignored. That lie – and that is what it was: a claim made with knowledge of its falsity or reckless disregard for its truth – was most aggressively amplified by MSNBC personalities such as Joy Ann Reid and Malcolm Nance, The Atlantic’s David Frum, and Newsweek’s Kurt Eichenwald.

Hillary Clinton – Who Lied About Landing Under Sniper Fire – Claims Fake News Is a Threat

Jim Hoft Dec 8th, 2016 10:20 pm 85 Comments

You just can’t make this stuff up…
In 2008 Hillary Clinton claimed she landed under sniper fire in Bosnia and had to run for her life.
It was a lie.

Fake news about ‘hands up don’t shoot’ has caused the deaths of many police officers in the last few years.

Fake news about ‘violent Trump rallies’ hurt conservatives citizens when IT WAS DEMOCRATS PAYING VIOLENT STREET THUGS TO ROUGH UP TRUMP SUPPORTERS.

We Are Real, We Are Truthseekers, And We Do Not Accept Mainstream Media Fake News!

“The essay I want to share with you is one the most excellent and far-reaching pieces of truth I have ever read. The writer is Carl Herman. Carl Herman is a National Board Certified Teacher of US Government, Economics, and History; also credentialed in Mathematics...he demands a clear vision of the current Mainstream Media hoax that is currently being played upon Alternative Media.

He gives examples of the true hoax of Mainstream Media, which has been played on the American people for a very long time. That is how Alternative Media was born….we had to find our way from the darkness of lies to Light of truth. The Internet is both a positive and negative entity, but Alternative Media has become the positive force of the Internet...”

I think one of the reasons people get so concerned about the tweets is it is sort of a way around the press. He doesn’t have to rely upon, uh, rely upon — this is the modern era, modern technology. He’s at the point where we don’t need you guys anymore.

Interestingly enough, this strategy had been discussed in #wikileaks concerning the release of the Judicial Watch/State emails!

The “journalistic outrage” over “fake news” is SOLELY about who controls the narrative.

One of the worst examples of MSM fake news was the two-year witch-hunt known as "Plamegate," in which the media fostered the notion that the Bush administration had deliberately "outed" Veronica Plame to "punish" her husband for "telling the truth about Iraq."

Virtually everything in that story was a lie, yet they pushed it for two years, ultimately destroying the career of Scooter Libby. Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald tried his best, but basically found NOTHING to support the accusations. All he got was a flimsy perjury charge against Libby, because Libby and Tim Russert had different recollections of a long-ago phone conversation.

It is certainly possible that among the thousands of emails in the WikiLeaks dumps, someone could have altered some or inserted fake ones. What would be interesting to find out is which ones Clinton/Podesta claim are fake and which ones were altered and how they were altered. Let them go through the WikiLeaks emails one by one and tell us just exactly what was changed/inserted. That would be HUGELY entertaining and informative. It would also force them to acknowledge the ones that are genuine. (Not that I would trust anything they said.)

But instead, what they are trying to do is to discredit ALL of the emails by claiming there are fake ones. Fortunately they are not getting away with that.

When stories like "pizzagate" are posted on FR, they are thoroughly debated, with some believing them, some disbelieving them, and others reserving judgment. Moreover, "pizzagate" did not consist of a single claim, but numerous claims, with varying degrees of evidence and credibility.

No one believed that story - the worst-case version of it - who didn't already want to believe it. Thus, "fake news" emanating from obscure websites doesn't really tip the scales one way or the other. It is the fake news - posing as credible, undeniable news - coming from the MSM, viewed or heard by tens of millions, day after day, that does the most damage.

So...when’s Facebook, Twitter and Google censor out MSNBC for being a fake news site?

“Fake news” often leads to arrests and convictions.

Drudge broke the Monica Lewinsky story. FR debunked Dan Rather’s fraudulent documents.

These people want to control the narrative and have only their echo chamber buddies in MSM speak.

"These people want to control the narrative and have only their echo chamber buddies in MSM speak."

Speaking of "echo chambers," libs always talk about sites like FR as conservative "echo chambers" where only conservative views are heard. They don't seem to realize - or maybe just ignore - that these sites are largely based on links to other sites, including many MSM and liberal blog sites, and that we are very aware of opposing viewpoints.

They also seem unaware of the contentiousness and infighting of conservatives, who often disagree each other as vigorously as they disagree with liberals. (As someone who has posted articles on "pizzagate," you are undoubtedly very aware of that.)

The contentiousness of conservatives even amongst ourselves has always been - to me - the ultimate reply to libs who say we passively and uncritically accept everything we hear on - say - Fox News.

Also the left has used “The Russians Did It” as an attempt to discredit information from Wikileaks.

The term “fake news” is being used to designate anything and everything that is not totally part of the Left stream of propaganda. Its overuse will quickly empty the term of meaning.People are already beginning to see the term and assume that it is probably reliable information because it is primarily used to describe true information that discredits the left or is deemed inappropriate by the left. I can see that working already in people who do not normally pay attention to political things.
