In an interview with Syrian newspaper Al Watan this morning, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad stressed that “Israel alone” is Syria’s enemy.
“He who conquers our land is an enemy country, not [merely] a country whose leaders employ hostile policies. Israel alone remains our enemy country.”
“Our land” is apparently a reference to the Land of Israel itself, and not Syria, which Arab news outlets reported yesterday the Israeli Air Force had bombed. …

2. Israel aided (medical and logistical) Al-Qaeda ‘rebel’ fighters at the Golan against Assad.
3. Israel continues to airstrike Syrian military targets.
4. Israel is very close with Turkey and Saudi Arabia... Assads arch-enemies.
Why on earth does anyone expect Assad to not view Israel as an hostile state???

P.S. “Our land” refers to the Golan Heights occupied by Israel. Not Israel itself.
(It is kinda funny that folks fall over themselves to bash Assad for these unsurprising, expected - politically calculated - remarks on Israel, while he is the only ruler in the region seriously eradicating the jihadi pest. The first is just empty words... the latter really counts.)
