Leonardo DiCaprio Meets With Trump To Discuss Creation Of "Millions Of Green Jobs"

In one of the more unexpected visits to take place to the penthouse at the Trump Tpower on Wednesday, Leonardo DiCaprio and the head of his foundation met with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss how jobs centered on preserving the environment can boost the economy.

In a statement to The Associated Press, Terry Tamminen, the CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, confirmed the meeting at Trump Tower in New York City. Tamminen said the pair gave a presentation to Trump, daughter Ivanka, and other members of Trump's team on how focusing on renewable, clean energy could create millions of jobs.

"Today, we presented the president-elect and his advisors with a framework — which LDF developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism — that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure," Tamminen said. "Our conversation focused on how to create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation."

The Oscar-winning actor has been a strong advocate of fighting climate change and preserving wildlife, and his recent documentary, Before the Flood, addresses the peril that the world faces because of climate change. He has also been repeatedly accused of hypocrisy by his critics for not practicing what he preaches, such as criss-crossing the globe in high carbon footprint private jets.

According to AP, DiCaprio previously met with Ivanka Trump and presented her with a copy of the film. The meeting with Trump's team lasted for about 90 minutes. The actor also gave the president-elect a copy of the documentary, and Trump promised to watch it, according to a person who was familiar with the meeting but not authorized to speak publicly.

Tamminen, who was secretary of California's Environmental Protection Agency under former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, said Trump was receptive and suggested they meet again next month.

"We look forward to continuing the conversation with the incoming administration as we work to stop the dangerous march of climate change, while putting millions of people to work at the same time," said Tamminen.

Despite the lip service, we doubt much if anything will come out of the meeting, which took place hours after word got out Wednesday that Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who refuses to accept "climate-change", and whose policies have helped fossil fuel companies, is expected to be announced as Trump's pick to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.

It was unclear if DiCaprio flew in and out of his meeting with Trump to discuss how to make the environment great again, on his private jet.

Yeah, Solyndra created a ton of new ‘green’ jobs. Oh wait. Solyndra is dead.

I loved when greenies one state said “we’re now generating 5% of the state’s power with renewable energy. And created 70,000 green jobs to do it.”

The reply from the coal industry was “we generate 60% of the power and it only takes 7,000 people”.

I think the greenies revised their “jobs created” number down significantly after that.

People don’t realize this, but this consensus-building is genius: Put all the people you trust in high positions - meet with all the people you don’t to make it look like you respect them.

I hate that I like DiCaprio as an actor, because he’s such a lefist putz. The guy practically goes into a religious trance over Algore.

Isn’t DiCaprio like, you know, an actor?

I don’t get it.

If clean energy can create millions of jobs, why hasn't it? Two words: government subsidies.

Let free men invest in green energy from their own pockets if they are so cocksure that along with jobs, green energy itself becomes viable. Anything less is just corporate welfare.

What is it with Hollywood and politicians? Why do I give a damn what Leo thinks about anything? When did he become an expert and why? Look how many times POTUS and FLOTUS have appeared on TV shows and compare that number to any other president. My conclusion: Obozo lives in a fantasy world and is the only place where he is truly comfortable and truly belongs...it’s sure not the WH.

I’ve never understood the appeal of the guy. He’s just another Hollywood androgynous dress-up doll as far as I can tell, like Johnny Depp but at least Depp is and has always been completely nuts, so there’s a little suspense.

I like this. Nothing wrong with investing in actual technologies. it’s the leftist treaties and regulations that are the problem.

Leo can run the Department of Windmill Salvage if he wants.

I am really liking how Trump runs this transition. There is no smokey back room with lobbyists. Instead, anyone can go up the elevator and lobby for free. He has a web cam so everyone can see who is lobbying him. Its more like the Gong Show.

It’s one thing for companies to voluntarily decide to operate in the ‘green’, but it’s quite another to demand that they do so upon penalty of huge taxation or fines unless it’s something very known such as dumping sewerage into lakes and rivers, or known hazardous chemicals into the ground. There has to be a middle ground.

Sure, give some tax breaks to encourage some green tech, but to scare the bejeezus out of children by making them think the world is going to be destroyed by melting ice caps is just way too much!

I’m good with Trump meeting with idiots like Gore and DiC - they are low IQ and uneducated. Listen to their fake information politely - give them the opportunity to give a dissenting view.

The truth does not need to fear fake information presented by people who don’t even understand math and science or business.
