Thank you very much, thank you very much. It’s a pleasure to be with all of you today, and also to be here in support of the American Conservative Magazine, which I think is one of the fine magazines, thinkers’ magazines in the country today. I’d like to thank Bill Kauffman for that introduction. I will promise you that he has not read my speech, because I there are a few things he said that I actually want to talk about today.

I don’t know if anybody has mentioned this or not, but this is Bill Kauffman’s birthday. Happy birthday, Bill.

wow...thanks. nice find...his friend pretty much hit it out of the park

I look back on the turning points in this campaign. I think of a great friend of mine, a fellow marine named Mac McDowell, who served in my company in Vietnam. In fact, we were wounded on the same day. Mac has been very loyal to me, even though he was a conservative Republican. He runs a gun shop on a shooting range in Erie, Pennsylvania.

When I decided not to continue the attempt at the presidency, he sent me an email. He said, “This guy Donald Trump,” he says, “the Republicans hate him, the Democrats hate him, the media hates him, I think I found my guy.” So, I would like to salute Donald Trump for his tenacity, and for the uniqueness of his campaign.

If Trump feels the need to include a Democrat or two in his administration, Webb would make a good choice.

He could have beaten Trump.

But the Democrats wanted an identity politics female candidate.

Their loss.

He is getting back in the GOP again and could very well run for office against somebody like Gerry Connolly or Dim Paine!

Democrats don’t like white males.

No wonder they’re in the minority.

IMO - they chose Hilary because she was next in line, just as Jeb was next in line.

Webb is a moderate Democrat.

They’re as rare as a hen’s tooth in the party.

It has no interest in being in the middle.

And its moonbat base wants to drag it even further to the Left.

Wrong, he ran in the Democratic Primary which with super delegates, DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schults, and the adoring and biased press was fixed for Hillary.

He was the only Democrat I could see myself voting for but the party didn’t want him.

He comes from a blue collar background and Hillary’s and the party’s patrician class saw it as beneath them.

Webb is one Dem that could very well find a fit within the ‘Pub party. He seems to be open to the idea of leaving the radical ‘Rat party behind. If we could win him over he’d go a long way towards tilting VA back our way. I don’t think we should write him off.

His position statements are not at all conservative re Abortion, social issues. He voted for every stimulus. A few good position but very Liberal Big GVT at heart.

Rated 86% by UFCW, indicating an anti-management/pro-labor record.

I've been following Webb since the 70s when his book "Fields of Fire" came out. One of my 1st Sgts was in his platoon in Viet Nam. I actually talked to him when he was the Secretary of the Navy when he called my 1st Sgt.

His problem is that he quits when he gets frustrated. He is a lone wolf. A lot of very admirable qualities, but the last thing you need is someone who has a history of quitting when things don't go his way.

Here is my conversation with him when he was SecNav:

I was a company commander at a recruit company. The phone rang and I answered it. A person asked to speak to my 1st Sgt, so I asked who it was. He replied that he was James Webb. I said, "Yeah, and I'm Chesty Puller ( a famous Marine General). Who is this?"

He replied, "James Webb."

I yelled out, "1st Sgt, some asshole is on the phone asking for you. The F%&!K$r says his name is James Webb."

My 1st Sgt answered the phone and talked for a few minutes. After the call I asked the 1st Sgt who he was talking to. My 1st Sgt told me he was talking to the Sec Nav and they had served together in Viet Nam. I asked the 1st Sgt if I still had a job. My 1st Sgt laughed and said that the SecNav thought it was the funniest thing that had happened to him in a long time.

Trump needs to grab him for his administration, Democrat or not.

I was surprised when he replied to an e-mail I sent. We traded several.
Webb reminded me of another decorated VN vet, my Dad.
I’d support him any day over a Lindsay rino.
