Than you for your response. To refresh my memory of Bolton, I looked for things he has been involved in.
Here is a reference to his thoughts on bombing Yugoslavia. There is no source, but the post seems legit. She posts at several points in the thread.

One other resource I came across is very extensive. I read about 40% of it and grew tired. Please read it. I think it addresses his career as good as you’ll find anywhere.

His affiliation with James Baker is troubling to me, but Baker was also good on some things. He was a mixed bag IMO.
As for Bolton his logic seems rather sound. I read a few things that could have been negatives before I quit. I think you’ll run into them. Some of his quotes sound negative on the face, but there are times when there are very good reasons for stating some things that are not reported along with what seems like a slam dunk bad comment, so I hold off trashing a guy on the quote unless it can be established there was not good reason for the comment and it was in fact bad.
Note that Bolton is against the U.N., against international treaties because he thinks the U.S. abides by them and others don’t. He thinks the U.S. is hobbled by them.
I liken this to gun control. The only people gun laws hurt are the law abiding citizens. Criminals do what they please while we’re unarmed. He doesn’t want to see the U.S. in this type of situation. This my example, not his, and it is my supposition that this is his vision.
At any rate, I come away from what I have read here, thinking Bolton has been on too many right sides, to be tossed out of contention now.
Take care.
