INFURIATING! VA admits hospital in Wisconsin may have infected 592 VETS with hepatitis and HIV

According to WEAU News 13, 592 veterans who received care at the Tomah VA in Wisconsin may have been infected with several types of disease due to violations of infection control procedures. In other words, they received the horrible level of care we have sadly come to expect from the VA.

During a press conference on Thursday, acting Medical Center Director Victoria Brahm said a dentist at the VA was using his own equipment … which should actually be illegal. But we digress.

Infuriating? How about grossly criminally negligent.

Someone(s) needs to do life for this.

Last time I checked VA employees are government workers.
Carelessness coupled with incompetence. Who knew?

Doesn’t he want Sarah Palin to oversee this? She would drain this particular swamp very well.

Hasan received treatment.

The terrorists at Guantanamo received special treatment.

Heck, al Qaeda even got weapons.

Where are the Grand juries?

Gee, where’s that Obama meme saying eight years and no scandals when you need it?

I was just at the VA hospital in Biloxi. I had two Basal-cell carcinoma spots removed. (mild skin cancer - looks like molds)

I have never had friendlier, competent and professional service in my life. The operating doctor called me at home a week later just to make sure I was doing well too.

I know very little about the VA hospital system. However, while working for one of Harvard Medical School's major teaching affiliates I learned that all three of the VA hospitals in eastern Massachusetts have a very strong relationship...a formal relationship...with all three of Boston's medical schools, all of which are among the finest in the world.

Relationships of that sort, done nationwide, would represent a huge boost for quality of care at the VA.Of course hospitals in less urban areas of the country might create special problems.

I really wonder if this was intentional. Obama has enjoyed killing off vets as it’s not his voting bloc.

Let’s waste time counting ballots already counted rather than sending in state troopers to start arresting those who have violated the law.

Shut them down. There is no reason to have the VA. Its bad care. Its inconvenient for the Vets. Just give the vets platinum health care. And let them go to any hospital or doctor they wish.

I could tell you stories about the VA that would make your blood boil. I’ve told my dad to stay away from there and just go to the emergency room when he needs help but he never listens.

The VA hospital in Murfreesboro, TN had that problem back about 8 years or so ago with them doing colonoscopy, from just going down there I got the impression it is hard to find American born doctors with in the system, most are foreign born doctors, My gut feeling is it seems to be hard to keep American doctors within the system, it’s not just the low pay but the bureaucracy, I’m not impressed with the VA in Murfreesboro, Unfortunate the VA in Murfreesboro is not attached to any big medical school like you see in the big cities.

grossly criminally negligent

I can't believe they haven't been shut down with the arrests being televised.

Try to imagine this kind of thing happening at Cedars-Sinai in west LA, CA.

I’m not a Veteran, so am simply looking for opinions here.

I see the VA much like HUD housing and welfare. It seems to be a low-cost (indeed, its free) but very low-quality social welfare program, designed to rope yet another group into the government dependency plantation.

Aren’t there other options? Such as private care vouchers? Tax-free status for independent veterans/health-care groups offering care? Certainly, anyone who suffered wounds caused by their service to Uncle Sam should be taken care of, but are there other options besides funneling all into a vast government bureaucracy?
