I respectfully disagree.

Donald Trump has done more for America in the past 2 weeks than the entire FOUR previous presidents... COMBINED.

And the man is still fifty-some days from being inaugurated.

Trump is the one who said he loves McDonald's. As for Obama, I don't see any arugula…

Of course not!

"Do you know how much arugula goes for at Whole Foods???" —Obama at a campaign stop in '08.

I work in engineering, though not a HVAC. (Structural, I’ve designed a lot of rooftop dunnage (framing) to carry HVAC equipment.). Carrier’s equipment is something of a benchmark, not the gold standard, but the standard most all are judged against. Carrier must be thinking long and hard about the ding their reputation might take in a showdown with Trump.

Proverbs 29:2

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people mourn.

Obama has been a curse on our land for over 8 years. Trump is far from righteous (as is anybody else), but he is light years ahead of most weak-kneed politicians.

“It’s possible that even with expensive labor, the eliminated cost of regulation can induce Carrier to stay.”

Not to mention an increase of “transportation costs” to access the US market...35% at the gate.

While I support tariffs as a tool to preserve key industries I am opposed to singling out a particular manufacturer/producer.

If a tariff were to be imposed on Carrier products, it should be equally applied to ANY unit not manufactured in the US.

Labor is the highest cost of any and every manufacturer.

I think that any unit manufactured by a preTrump company would be 35% grandfathered and not subject to the tariff

[Obama has been a curse on our land for over 8 years.]

You can say that again. I’ve never experienced anything like the last 8 years.

We're win win winning already and the guy is not even in office yet! He was right, we are going to win so much we are going to get sick of winning. All these people bashing him, I tell them - What are you going to say if a year from now it becomes painfully obvious the guy is doing a tremendous job? They don't answer me. I even sent that message to the writer Stephen King who constantly bashes Trump on Twitter, I asked what are you going to say if by next year it's blindingly obvious Trump is knocking it out of the ballpark? They don't think of that, they are bashing the guy before he even takes office.

I grew up in New York city and knew Trump from the early 1980s, the guy is a doer, he gets things done, he cuts through the BS and says what needs to be said and does what needs to be done, he's always been that way. When 911 happened he was among the first people to demand the World trade center be built only higher, that if the statue of liberty was destroyed you don't replace it with the Eiffel tower, and he was absolutely right. I hate that "freedom tower" one world trade center, it stands out like a sore thumb and looks like a giant trophy to Al Qaeda, they even got something that looks like an Islamic minaret on top while the "memorial" to the victims looks like a sewage treatment plant and I refuse to go down there even though I knew people who died that day. I almost died in that thing, I was a working for Poland Spring at the time and was doing water deliveries there only the day before.

If labor costs means people make a reasonable wage, then the company needs to look at what else is making their products so expensive (we have one, and yes they are).

So when Carrier shifts production to Mexico and lowers their labor costs do you honest think their prices will go down?

If it’s union wages we’re talking about, that’s an entirely different problem.

So what would you slash their wages to?

Not if they are taxed on every product sent to the US.

They'll just pass the costs on to the consumer.

Labor is the highest cost of any and every manufacturer.

And that's why Carrier and other companies move manufacturing overseas.

Perhaps they could move Carrier to a right to work state instead of Mexico, with tax breaks and regulations coming to a screeching halt maybe they could make it work!!! I agree though labor costs are the MAIN REASON these companies leave there is so much involved in the labor costs workers comp is huge, Ocare was also a huge expense however the wage in Mexico is 8.20 an hour we will NEVER be able to compete with that!!!

“Why do I want this company to stay? If production costs are lower in Mexico I want them to leave.”

Don’t you love America?

“It’s a good thing Obama was lazy. If he worked hard, the US would be just like Venezuela!”

I’ve thought this for a long time. The best place for The Obamanation of Desolation to be is the golf course

I believe they move because LABOR COSTS are a variable that is controllable by moving.

They still have to pay the highest corp income tax in the free world.

If Trump reduces the corporate tax from 39% to 15% i see that they can make a healthy profit WITHOUT cutting U.S. LABOR COSTS.
