A Mexican cement maker is ready to lend its services to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to build the wall he wants to erect on the southern border of the United States to curb immigration.
We cant be choosy, Enrique Escalante, Chief Executive Officer of Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC) said in an interview. Were an important producer in that area and we have to respect our clients on both sides of the border.
Republican Trump campaigned vowing to build a big, beautiful, powerful wall across the 2,000 mile (3,200 km) frontier in order to stop illegal immigrants from Mexico, which he accused of sending rapists and drug traffickers north.
The campaign of the New York businessman who has never previously held public office was widely reviled in Mexico.
Parts of the border are already divided by high fences, and a huge part of the boundary runs along the Rio Grande river.
Based in Chihuahua, a large northern state bordering Texas and New Mexico, GCC is one of the biggest construction materials companies in Mexico. It generates around 70 percent of its sales in the United States, where it also has three plants.

Zero chance Mexican cement will be used.
But—during the campaign, Trump only said that he was going to get Mexico to *pay* for the wall. He said nothing about having them build it!
Parts and labor - Made In America
Looks like a face saving move
¿Quiero ir a América del norte? En escaleras de Pedro puede encontrar la altura que usted necesita. Los precios comienzan en 150 Pesos a 1000 pesos. Estar preparado para la pared.
A rising tide lifts all boats. Perhaps Mexico might see that getting its own house in order would be to its benefit, instead of chronically bleeding its problems into the U.S.
That used to be my joke..use cheap Mexican labor to build the wall.
From your mouth to God’s ear.
Wasn’t there an issue with Chinese concrete? I wouldn’t put it past them to make it tunnel-able.
Maybe Trump can tie building the wall into easier permitting for sand and gravel pits. There is a shortage of them in my area due to all of that.
I know a couple of years ago there was a shortage of concrete all over the U.S. - not sure what the status is now, but I’m guessing it is back to normal.
Just add a few Mexicans to the mix.
Mexican cement.
I would not oppose Mexican contracts considering it is Mexican money. However, it should be US engineering to ensure you can’t just push the wall over when it is done.
Good for them. Make lemonade!
The uproar would be deafening if the VAST majority of labor and materials were not Made In USA. Same for the Keystone Pipeline.
Use illegals. When the last panel is about to go up, say, “Hey, go on the other side and make sure it looks okay.” Put up last panel.
By “America” Trump means “United States of” aka “Estados Unidos”...not as in “North America”. But thanks anyway.
They should be making their offer to the Mexican government...
the ones paying for it.
He said Mexico would pay for it. He never promised they’d pay Americans to do it instead of Mexicans.
This sounds like a surefire way to get a lot of collapsing and trick doors built into the wall.
