I cronographed some 110gr bullets from my Browning B92 at 2200 fps. That would be effective on most anything close up.
I’m trying to sell a Ruger Lightweight Commander if anyone is in the North Dallas area and is interested.
MG42 is DEFINITELY on my bucket list, and has been since I saw one in action when I was 7 years old. I held a BAR but very sad to admit, they wouldn’t let me fire it, lol. I actually found a transferrable 42 about 5 years ago. I remember they wanted about $40,000 for it, too. I got to spray some M1919 when I was a teenager. That thing is way cooler than it looks. Crappy ergonomics, but happiness=belt fed
I believe you are correct. It was the “I”-talian name that sidetracked me. Happy thanksgiving
And Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
You’ll like it!
Ruger Mk IV Hunter in Steel via employee contact yesterday... that was MY black Friday :)
Read a review on it,,,
Model HO12MR
Cycles well with .357 mag.
Lots of issues cycling .38 Special..
Perhaps I can find a Deal on one.
And no, I never shot my eye out.
I have the .30-30 with the octagon barrel, brushed brass receiver. It feels like an M1 Garand since it weighs so much. The weight impedes the recoil so if you need a second shot your crosshairs aren't far from the first round. Tube fed, not side gate so it's a purist deer rifle. Once sighted in every round is exactly the same as the last one. A wow rifle.
Anyone know of an automatic with an easy slide?

Yeah, me too. I always wondered what happened to a neighbor’s WWII machine gun which he showed us on Thanksgiving about 55 years ago. All I remember is it was compact (carbine?) and was in nice, almost shiny condition. Guy died almost 30 years ago in a kayak accident near Wenatchee. I always think of that gun on Thanksgiving.
Mine didn’t like HPs - jams - so I switched to plastic-tipped Hornady HPs. Works/cycles beautifully now.
I’ve never tried .38s in it, but be wary of HPs being just a ‘hair’ shorter than ball ammo.
I’ve only taken my Ruger Single Six out once but I liked it. Next trip will take the 22 Magnum cylinder.
Steel lips mags do too.
Mrs. L and I are fortunate enough to each own a Kimber. Hers is a full size Stainless Raptor. I opted for the Commander length of that model. They’re pure heaven to shoot. And shoot them we do.
Best,
L
Wow, a long lived FIL.
