Good!!! Federalized education must come to an end and return the control of schools to locals. Jimmy Carter was the signature to federalize education; a yokel South Georgia peanut farmer from the southern end of my state.

Uh, if public schools are “the country’s most important civic institution” historically, then it was the federalization of what has historically been a State and locally controlled institution that has altered the historical character of public schools. And if it had remained something that was within the province of the States, the head of the Department of Education would be in no position to “destroy” it, because the Department of Education would have little power over it.
Why do conservatives want to bring the riffraff into the private schools??

CC is the least of our worries. School Choice/charters have unelected boards and are a true threat to our representative form of government.
