Because the NFL is losing viewers and they need to expand into a new market.

USA professional sports are a big deal to the markets in Mexico. When I was down in Mexico on 2 trips the past 80 days in Monterrey and then Mexico City they would show highlights in their news broadcasts of the MLB, NFL, and talk ad nauseum about the teams here.

Another thing I saw a lot was the incredible growth of factories and manufacturing. People who say that manufacturing is dead in North America ought to go visit Mexico and see for themselves. They have been creating lots of jobs in new factories there. Since the wages suck the people have to work long hours and they mostly live in slums that would have the Humane Society after you here in the USA if you forced your dogs/cats to live there. But NAFTA has really been good for some people and the oligarchs there like Carlos Slim, one of the principal stakeholders of the New York Times.

Try the NHL, I have become a fan. I have three grade school grand children playing hockey.

A dozen or so people get stabbed at any given Raider game in Oakland.

There might be more in Mexico City.

“I still have some friends who talk up football.

Some folks go through life on cruise control.”

Yes, some do.

I was an ardent watcher when I was younger, but what bothered me were the rule changes. That impacted the game a lot. Rules designed to help increase scoring or to protect certain players.

Now, having to play on Thursday night? Those players are tired and one can see it.

Because some of the powers that be in the NFL think they can expand the NFL into several foreign countries. Same reason they’ve been having games in London for several years.

For the same reason a dog licks its balls.

I’m pissed at the NFL, too, but hoping they get their act together. I do enjoy watching and following the best players of a great game, even as Goodell and Kap try to make me turn away. Keep in mind that, although about 20 people have posted here that they don’t watch, or have stopped, and NFL ratings are down, this broadcast will still far surpass anything on TV in this time slot tonight.

ESPN sounds as if it has dialed up/down, canned crowd-noise.

I think all telecasts of sporting events dial up the crowd noise.

I went to a World Series game in Miami once and had semi-fancy seats with limited access. I had to go, you know, and they had the game on in the quiet hallway and I was really surprised that the crowd noise on TV sounded much louder than it did out in the stadium.

Goddell needs to go and the owners need to wake up or he’ll destory the league.

Was everybody able to get home in time for the game after voting?

I was just going to post about the NHL,but you beat me———we are a hockey family.

(FWIW-—I was accused of being racist once for liking hockey-—I kid you not.)

Latin street gangs like the black Raiders gear.

And the Tango Blast gang out of Houston (called Houstone) wears the star from Astros and Texans gear.

Good going NFL.

I wasn’t a big fan of those rule changes either.

Statistics to prove the need were never quite there for me.

I’ve seen studies and statistics used to prove any argument you want to make. Then another person uses the same statistics and argues the exact opposite argument.

Oh well...

The guys are still crawling over each other to play, so I don’t think it’s all that bad. I do know what you mean. By the time the season comes around these guys are in remarkable shape.

They do take a beating on game day though, so I’m sure it is tough on some of them.

Everyone was respectful during both National Anthems. The Mexican fans were/are really into the game. The Raaaaaiders and Texans are playing a good game.

I was VERY skeptical but it’s working out OK.

It’s no wonder the NFL takes no stance on taking a knee during the National Anthem.

ESPN visibly disappointed the US national anthem wasn’t booed by the crowd “because of the recent election”. That’ s what they said -— Punks!!
