United Nations delegates agreed to put off writing any rules for the recently ratified Paris climate agreement to 2018 after President-elect Donald Trump, whos opposed the agreement, won a surprising election victory.
UN delegates came away with little more than a pledge to reconvene by December 2018 to write rules for the global warming agreement despite extending their two-week summit in Marrakech, Morocco an extra day.
News outlets are reporting nearly 200 countries reaffirmed their pledges to fully implement the Paris deal, which aims to somehow keep projected global warming below 2 degrees Celsius.
But Trumps surprise election victory shocked UN diplomats, and put the future of the Paris agreement in jeopardy. Trump promised to cancel the Paris deal on the campaign trail, and Republican lawmakers have vowed to make sure its never implemented.
The Republican president-elect also promised to cancel billions in global warming payments to the United Nations and spend that money on U.S. environmental programs instead. That would effectively undo the $3 billion pledge Obama made to the UNs Green Climate Fund.

LOL! So, someone has decided to hold off on thinking about maybe coming up with some rule book and what should be in it for another two years eh. Kinda like "We're seriously thinking about starting to plan to resolve and possibly undertake an effort to make some rules and regulations and submit them for review and revision for incorporation into a non-binding document that will have no bearing one way or the other on how the earth behaves ." Don't they care how many people are gonna drown in the next two years with the YUGE sea level rise?

For me, this is Trump’s first significant and tangible success as president (elect).
This may actually be fun.

“...put off writing any rules for the recently ratified...”
Another case of passing something to find out what’s in it?

The agreement's a joke. Even something as simple as playing cards has rules....and you read them BEFORE you play the game.
Follow the money!!

Wow, right after the next US election. Considering how well republicans have done recently in off-year elections, do you think they didn't want to become fodder for the next electoral purge of envirofascists from the government.

this immediate action by the UN demonstrates to me a couple things
1) how much the USA still leads the world
2) how much this globalist rubbish was promoted and planned by Obama.

It’s a case of someone explained to them that it was never ratified.
The Presidents don’t ratify treaties. The Senate ratified treaties. Obama’s signature meant nothing absent Senate ratification, and Trump will withdraw it from consideration.
It’s dead, Jim.

Of course it wasn’t...but the gutless wonders in the senate remained silent, as Barry ‘signed’ the treaty. Unbelievable really.
