Senate Democrats are not going to be able to block Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions bid to become attorney general. And they can’t do much to stop Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo from assuming the helm of the CIA.
And they have only themselves to thank for it.
That’s because exactly three years ago, the Democratic Senate majority — led by Harry Reid (Nev.) — rammed through controversial rules fundamentally changing the way the Senate does business. They unleashed in November 2013 what’s called the “nuclear option” allowing senators to approve by a simple majority all presidential appointments to the executive branch and the judiciary, with a big exception for Supreme Court justices.

Karma is a beach isn’t it. Harry Reid rammed through this changed in the Senate rules, which will now be used against the Democrats.
However, as I understand, the filibuster rules still apply to Supreme Court appointments sent for Senate confirmation.
So, I expect the Democrats to filibuster, or otherwise try to derail, Trump’s Supreme Court appointment. The Democrats are angry that the Senate never took up the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, so part of their strategy on handling Trump’s Supreme Court nomination, will be payback.
Good! I want to see that Nazi scumbag, Schumer, eating crow with each and every vote. Ain’t Karma a biatch? The GOP didn’t stand in the way of Obonzo sticking Sotomayor and Kagen on the SCOTUS. The ‘RATS need to stop being obstructionists and get the **** out of the way. The adults have returned to Washington D.C. to drain the swamp.

Yep - this is the one big caveat - the nuclear option is useless if the rinos cave to the snowflkes...
I almost knew this would happen, given how self serving those changes were. “How Convenient!” If he had been smart, the changes should have been limited to on or two Congressional Years.
