Abraham Lincoln said: Human nature can be modified to some extent but human nature cannot be changed.

To be free in what really counts we must stay close to God. What HE thinks is more important than anything else. Nothing else matters, no matter how many soap boxes you want to stand on and propound.

Gross income minus 8% tax would be negative income for many businesses. An 8% tax could easily be a 50% tax on net income for many self-employed. Then add in another 15% (roughly) self-employment tax (goes to SS & Medicare) and things would get worse.

The tax code is too complex. But SOME of that complexity is driven by life.

Most, of course, is driven by politicians wanting to control others in exhaustive detail...

Spiritual freedom which is trusting in God and the Lord Jesus Christ, is essential. But political freedom, what America is all about, is also necessary.

Political freedom is not meant to “modify” human nature. Political freedom as manifested in the U.S. Constitution, is mean to PROTECT personal, individual, and spiritual freedom.

Again, spiritual freedom and political freedom are not mutually exclusive. They go hand in hand.
