The weasel has left himself an out:

Unless forced to by law

8 U.S. Code § 1324 - Bringing in and harboring certain aliens:

He'll bail. The law is quite specific, and the penalties quite severe. It was signed by Bill Clinton, by the way.

Going to be interesting when they lose all their federal funding.

See 8 U.S. Code § 1324 - Bringing in and harboring certain aliens. The US has enough federal laws to take care of these problems. They merely need to enforce them.

Incidentally, Section (a)(1)(B)(iv) is VERY interesting, concerning penalties on those who harbor illegal aliens who cause any person's death:

(iv) in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(i), (ii), (iii), (iv), or (v) resulting in the death of any person, be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined under title 18, or both.

So, if one harbors an illegal, and that illegal causes someone else's death*, then the person(s) who harbored the illegal are subject to fines and punishment potentially up to the death penalty. So far as I can tell, this does not even have to be premeditated murder, though I doubt any just would agree to the death penalty for the "haborer" if the illegal was only guilty of manslaughter.

The nifty thing here is that the person(s) doing the harboring could never be sure what the person they are protecting might do while still here illegally...

All that is needed is an executive branch willing to enforce the law, and Trump has been pretty emphatic about rule of law.

The Cal(iphate) State system should not exist. A few of the better campuses can be promoted into the UC system, some of the average ones can become bachelor’s degree granting community colleges and exam centers for online education, and the remaining hotbeds of subversion like S.F. State can be plowed under, and the earth on top of the ruins salted. :)

Timothy P. White should be hauled off in handcuffs.

Maybe federal troops need to occupy California. It’s getting out of hand.

Inaccurate. The law requires proximate causation. Unless the government actor actually aided and abetted the commission of the crime itself, he/she cannot be held criminally liable. That means the government actor must have had the intent to actually aid the commission of a crime committed by the illegal alien.
