An Iowa lawmaker is urging anyone who's unhappy with the president-elect to "suck it up."
Representative Bobby Kaufmann is proposing what he calls the "suck it up, buttercup" bill.
He says protests on Interstate 80 last week sparked the idea. The bill would clarify state laws about highway protests.
It would also fine schools that use tax dollars to support what he calls "cry rooms" for students upset about the outcome of an election.
You've got a right to be a brat, said Representative Kaufmann. You've got a right to protest, that's constitutionally protected. But you do not have a right to throw a temper tantrum on Interstate 80 and put my constituents lives in danger.
Representative Kaufmann says he thinks his bill could inspire a national movement.
LOVE it.
Bump
Lol.
I hope this catches on in other states as well. Such blatant partisanship of public universities is disgusting. The whole thing is agitprop to try to delegitimize the democratic result of an election.
High school students in Omaha were protesting during school hours. Want to impress me? Do it on a weekend.
I agree! It is pitiful what entitlement and affluence create without any experience in the real world of consequences. Those kids are absolute brats and those that floated in on buses need to be floated out to detention centers where they will join one of the military units we have.
Suck it Up, Buttercup should be coupled with a 2 years experience in the military with each person doing what they are physically and mentally capable of doing but doing it in one of our military specialities. And if anyone is found to be working under the influence, WUI, then off they go to detention units where they will learn a trade like welding.
Our people have not experienced war in a meaningful way for at least 4 generations in the USA. As it is, most American women and many American men watch our loved ones return with horrific injuries or return dead. Everyone should know “war” and each person should work to avoid it.
These young people need to know the consequences of their actions from the Arab Spring to Occupy all ultimately lead to war. And this current anti Trump group needs to know sedition is not an unusual word— A person commits the crime of sedition when advocating the violent overthrow of the federal government when she willfully advocates or teaches the overthrow of the government by force, that is sedition—and doing it is a crime with punishment. And all those buttercups should know this informaton.
I think the Donald needs to appoint this guy to a position in the DOJ.
I have been a proponent of mandatory national service for a long time. I believe that once young adults graduate high school, they either serve in the armed forces or serve in other capacities.
The problem with that is the “serve in other capacities” section. Work for Planned Parenthood? Volunteer with Occupy? Keep in mind that legislation is all about details.
GREAT IDEA!!!!
I agree, mostly to counteract the brainwashing in the public education system
Time for the snowflakes to melt.
You, you, you male nationalist, you.
Amen and more!
I know everyone on here sings the praises of the mainstream middle class, but this class has produced the safe space nutbags that are currently wrecking this country. These kids are protected all the time and their main hobby seems to be going to college/university, going out partying, making a huge mess of their surrounding area, and then going home and leaving others to pick up the pieces of the mess they make.
As for war, that is something that ‘other people’ are expected to keep out of their sight and out of their safe space lives. I sincerely believe that if holding down a job or running an actual business were required, we wouldn’t have these issues with the young. They would be too busy working and studying to basically end up protesting all the time.
I’m all for success, but the main issue/consequence are kids who are raised to expect it all to be handed to them.
This is why I believe parents should NOT save to fund their kid’s education through life. It’s a huge waste of money and it teaches the kids NOTHING about real life.
