The bystander was ready.
This is a good story. Ended well. We need more like this.
Does anything make you feel better than this story?
What a disgusting headline. Gunned down sounds so negative.
If there is an update/news conference on this later, ping me. I’d appreciate it.
I am glad the deputy is safe and the criminal is dead but aren’t LEOs suppose to have their weapons drawn in these situations.
I have witnessed it first hand. If you do not stop, the police will draw their weapons once they catch you.
Hey, it's the liberal media. I'm just glad it didn't say, "Member of the oppressed class seeking equal voice detained by jack booted policeman, executed by Republican elitist."
Wow, that LEO must have been slow on the draw. In that part of Florida, it’s usually “Shoot First, Ask Questions Later” by LEO’s.
Per the story, the perp grabbed the officer out of his car.
Cop didn’t have a chance to draw down on the perp.
Entirely by design. Same thing when they call us a democracy.
It would be interesting to see how this went down just so cops could avoid it in the future. Perhaps the deputy pulled too close to the suspect's car. It's always surprising how fast a bad guy can close on you before you can draw a weapon. There are plenty of police training videos on the net which show that a bad guy can close 25 to 30 feet before a cop can pull his weapon. You need at least 35 feet and should try to keep something between you and the bad guy. If the guy exits his vehicle the cop must be able to quickly get out of his car while drawing the weapon. Not an easy task but the last place you want to be when confronting an armed suspect is in your car. You would be fish in a barrel.
I guess Mr. Blue Shirt has a “hall pass” for speeding tickets for a few decades....
Bet the perp shot was Amish and good shooter is afraid “other Amish” will come after him if his name is released.
Interesting coincidence. Last night I and another CCW holder were discussing that we did not know and could not find some kind of ROE for assisting an officer. I gave an example very similar to this (perp knocks cop unconscious, then takes his gun with intent to kill him) as about the only time I knew that I would be legally justified.
One of the most poorly written articles I have seen.
"Shoot him! Shoot him! Shoot him!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Why did you shoot him three times?
The officer told to me to.
This story buoys me as I have been spending the last week drowning in a Sea of Liberal Tears.
I’m thinking about getting a “concealed carry” permit.
I have my great-great grandfather’s Smith & Wesson
revolver. Of course, he didn’t have any “permit”. He
carried it in his job, a dangerous one on the river.
It’s sort of bulky for me to wear. I’ve carried a spray
can of pepper spray for a good while now, but keeping it
in my purse isn’t really ideal (too difficult to access).
“Guns Down CRIMINAL” works for me. I’ve learned to
translate MSM PC headlines for many years.
