“You can rely on The New York Times to bring the same fairness, the same level of scrutiny, the same independence to our coverage of the new president and his team.”
Satire?
The Salzberger family were simply not good custodians of the Times.
The last sentence tells you all you need to know. Having suffered a 95% YOY loss in profit, they’re circling the drain. Net profit last year was $200k.
Carlos Slim, a Mexican national billionaire (Obama phones, allegedly drug ties, too) saved the NYT from bankruptcy. He came in with cash and owns 20% of the paper.
Bezos (Amazon) bought the Washington Post for political clout.
Newspapers are money losers, but rich corps are buying them to buy influence and avoid paying taxes.
Even if the scumbags at that place meant to say sorry, and honestly felt sorry, it’d only be temporary at best.
Their dysfunction is congenital. It’s bone deep. It is not ever going to change. Any appearance of having changed will only be a temporary cringe from which they’ll come back to their usual lies, distortions and dishonorable conduct because that is just who and what they are.
Don’t ask me no questions, and I’ll tell you no lies.
Like one FReeper said: They (NYT et .al) didn’t get the election wrong, they simply failed to get their candidate elected.
5.56mm
So: There is a limit to how shamelessly they will?
I confess I am surprised. (Perhaps it is just that they know more exposure would be coming if they did not recant just a bit.)
Hurry up and die, NYT. Your corpse is beginning to stink up the whole country. Imagine the rest of the MSM without the Times to tell them what to think, do, and say.
Exactly right. Lack of money-can’t pay bills/wages/ 2 more houses for the elite bosses,etc...
The other day they were begging readers to hang in there, they’d do better.
Now what’s the policy. Hang in there, you were the one who was wrong?
Well, they removed the sentence that would have caused hysterical laughing.
As in “We lost so like we’re good again?”
Their demise is assured; it's just a matter of ... Time.
The NYT leading the MSM down the path to its inevitable demise.
To help it along I propose an executive order from Trump as follows:
The federal government will discontinue subscribing to or paying for any subscription of publications regardless of subject matter. Subscriptions may made or continue on a personal basis and will paid for by the person(s)subscribing. Billings to any federal office for subscriptions of published materials will be rejected effective March 1, 2017. During the month of February 2017 there should be ample time to cancel present subscriptions and make personal arrangements for payment if you wish to continue the subscription(s)
I’d guess that this nation wide federal policy will be enough to help the destruction of NYT and a few others.
Ah, the crocodile tears begin - oh, we did wrong - we see it now - we’ll do better, we learned our lesson - come back - listen to us again, spend your money on us again - you can kick the football this time.....
I don’t have a Bird in this fight
