The Germans never seem to get it right. After taking on almost the entire world virtually alone 75 years ago (except for Japan, a country thousands of miles away), the defeated German nation becomes a paradise of wimps. Churchill is reputed to have that the Germans were either at your throat or at your feet. As for Scandinavia, their fighting spirit died with Gustavus Adolphus over three centuries ago.
