The plot to stop Brexit: the judges versus the people (Ruling class vs the people)
Telegraph ^ | 3 NOVEMBER 2016 | Peter Dominiczak

Three High Court judges have been accused of frustrating the will of more than 17 million British people after they ruled that Brexit cannot be triggered without a Parliamentary vote.

Europhile MPs immediately put into action a plot to use the ruling to either overturn the Brexit vote or force Theresa May to water down dramatically her plans for Britain’s exit from the European Union.

The Prime Minister pledged to face down any attempt to thwart Brexit, suggesting that she intended to dare Remain-supporting MPs to vote against her in Parliament, in a move which would provoke a constitutional crisis.

Senior backbenchers and peers suggested that she could now be forced to call an early general election if she wants to proceed with her plans.

The country voted Leave in the June referendum with 17.4 million people backing Brexit, the biggest mandate in British political history. However, Parliament has a significant majority of Remain-supporters, with about 480 of 650 MPs believed to have backed the campaign to keep Britain in the EU.

The Government immediately said it would appeal to the Supreme Court after the judges declared that Mrs May does not have the power to bypass MPs by relying on the Royal Prerogative to trigger Article 50 and begin the two-year period of separation negotiations with Brussels.

Did we not say this happen, here? I sure as hell, did.

We all knew this would play this way. The vote was not binding.

This reminds me so much of when I lived in California. We always had dozens of ballot propositions, some, like Prop 187, an immigration statute, are quite good.

So the people vote and pass the proposition with a clear majority. Next thing you know, the state Supreme Court is overturning it. Sure, you the people wanted it, but we decided you can’t have it.

Disgusting.

On his blog, Peter Hitchens is describing the situation as a “Constitutional Crisis”.

He’s convinced that Teresa May’s politically correct Conservative Party government will end up faking a Brexit to leave the UK ‘halfway out’ of the EU instead of ‘halfway in’ like it is now.

Parliament already voted to abide by the results of the referendum, when they voted by a huge majority to have the referendum.

That of course was when Remain thought they were going to win.

Too true; three loops of piano wire would go a long way toward an attitude adjustment.

When you read these stories you realize Louis XVI and Nicholas II weren’t innocent victims of mindless mobs; our own Revolutionary War had its roots in this nonsense.

A supreme court is a new thing in Britain. Hope they like it.

They replace the 1000-year old right of appeal to the House of Lords, in latter days to a committee in that House called the Law Lords. As such, the House of Lords/Law Lords did not violate the principle that the government of the realm was the Crown in Parliament, ultimately responsible to the People (Commons) or the monarch (Lords).

Their shiny new Supreme Court is NOT under the government OR the monarchy. At the time it was created, Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury, later President of the Supreme Court, expressed fear that the new court could make itself more powerful than the House of Lords committee it succeeded, saying that there is a real risk of “judges arrogating to themselves greater power than they have at the moment”

Smart guy.

Supreme Courts are a mistake.

Setting up a system where 3 or 9 people can dictate to the people is a dictatorship.

If “Supreme “ court decisions were subject to review by the elected legislators ,perhaps requiring a four-fifths majority to change, some of the abuses might be corrected.

Trump needs to GUT the Federal judiciary. Congress has broad powers to do so.
