I vote early so these asshats don’t interrupt my hunting season.

Isn’t that just a health insurance plan people paid premiums into for 40 years ? Like any other insurance, what you get back out is paid for by somebody else, not directly from you own premiums.

Not really. Because while premium levels for insurance are structured to cover risk, there's nothing of the kind for Medicare. You pay taxes based on what you earn - and that's that. No different from paying taxes to cover the cost of welfare, farm subsidies or any other gov't "freebies" (which of course aren't free, you're paying for them). Medicare isn't insurance - it's a taxpayer funded free medical program for certain populations.

That’s gotta be the one sane reason to hold early voting. );-)

I’d say, for that reason, allow a couple of early days, maybe the previous Saturday and Sunday, like somebody else said on this thread.

Unfortunately, however, the law actually forbids it, and the Constitution seems to forbid it also, at least for Presidential elections.

I could live with all your suggestions. Maybe get rid of motor-voter too, because in any state where illegals can get driver’s licenses, they presumably could get away with registering to vote.

Having early voting on the Saturday and Sunday prior to election day would be fine with me, if Congress would actually allow that in the future. As it stands, all early voting, at least for Federal candidates, currently violates Federal election law.

May God bless and keep your husband.

No it isn’t and no it doesn’t. And there’s no dubious constitutionality either.

Face it folks, with 320 million people in this country we NEED more than 14 hours to vote in. One way or the other we WILL have multi-day voting. Some countries make a 3 day weekend out of the deal, other do early.

If he had to wait and vote when everyone else did, he just wouldn’t. They did curbside for him and, I do not believe they can do that on election day. And, if that happens, I bet he is not the only one. We live in a relatively small town but the lines are long on election day.
