The FBI’s Clinton Foundation Probe
National Review ^ | 10/30/16 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 10/30/2016 8:39:57 PM PDT by randita

This Wall Street Journal story is such a blockbuster in every way that arguably the most significant news comes in the 14th (!) paragraph:

New details show that senior law-enforcement officials repeatedly voiced skepticism of the strength of the evidence in a bureau investigation of the Clinton Foundation, sought to condense what was at times a sprawling cross-country effort, and, according to some people familiar with the matter, told agents to limit their pursuit of the case. The probe of the foundation began more than a year ago to determine whether financial crimes or influence peddling occurred related to the charity.

Some investigators grew frustrated, viewing FBI leadership as uninterested in probing the charity, these people said. Others involved disagreed sharply, defending FBI bosses and saying Mr. McCabe [a top FBI official whose wife got huge donations from Terry McAuliffe for a Virginia political race] in particular was caught between an increasingly acrimonious fight for control between the Justice Department and FBI agents pursuing the Clinton Foundation case.

It isn’t unusual for field agents to favor a more aggressive approach than supervisors and prosecutors think is merited. But the internal debates about the Clinton Foundation show the high stakes when such disagreements occur surrounding someone who is running for president.

Yes, you read that right: the FBI has been investigating the Clinton Foundation. The story goes on to detail how the investigation has been tearing the bureau apart and creating a rift between the FBI and DOJ:

In February, FBI officials made a presentation to the Justice Department, according to these people. By all accounts, the meeting didn’t go well.

Some said that is because the FBI didn’t present compelling evidence to justify more aggressive pursuit of the Clinton Foundation, and that the career anticorruption prosecutors in the room simply believed it wasn’t a very strong case. Others said that from the start, the Justice Department officials were stern, icy and dismissive of the case.

“That was one of the weirdest meetings I’ve ever been to,” one participant told others afterward, according to people familiar with the matter. Read the whole thing. Maybe twice.

I have said MANY times I WANT her to make it the 8th of November without being indicated because she is so beatable.

Now I dont know how she can. She is going to be in charge of the FBI and Justice Dept that is investigating her?!?!?

This is a mockery of the Constitution. This will be nothing short of a banana republic run by a crazed law breaking despot.

She should step down.

I really don’t know where the Dems are going here. There are too many people involved, and when one person cracks (AND THEY WILL), the whole thing is coming down. It will take down the DNC itself.

Neither Rich Lowry or the National Review have ANY credibility with a Trump voter or about half the nation.

Despite that, I read Lowry’s article and found it to be one of his typical pusillanimous writings not worthy of a Trumpster’s time. That said, a democrat would find it interesting.

She should step down.

I think her psychopathy and ego will not allow that to happen.

She will stay to the bitter end. He greed for money & power is too big. And Trump wins this on Nov 8th. There will be no constitutional crisis.

When Doug Schoen backs out from Hillary, it is the best sign she will lose.

I did read it again, and again. This WSJ article contains the most factual information I’ve seen. Required reading.

I also am torn about McCabe. Initially I thought he was dirty too but now it seems from this article like there wasn’t as much potential conflict as his wife had already lost her Senate race by the time McCabe became Deputy Director. Still, when someone gives your spouse a half-milion dollars it’s natural to be somewhat beholden to their causes.

This confirms the theory I’ve had all day, e.g. that the NYPD Weiner sexting investigators were the only one to read or know about the Clinton-related emails up to the time the warrant was received.

You are of course both right. She would NEVER step down THIS CLOSE to controlling the world.

She terrifies me as she is capable of ANYTHING.

I want Trump surrounded by security and EVERYONE checked that enters his rallies and I want him wearing a Vest, the best there is!

As a sociopathic malignant narcissist, Hillary Clinton will not voluntarily step down. She’s not capable. The collapse of her fantasy world would result in the collapse of the false self she’s created to survive.

I wonder just how Obama is willing to go regarding Hillary’s foundation. It seems he would have to issue a wide ranging pardon to all the donors, foreign and domestic, and all the employees, from any civil or criminal prosecutions. But even if he did that, I don’t see how anyone could stop a Trump administration from cancelling the tax exempt status of the Foundation itself. And suppose an REAL and credible investigation into the foundation turned up overwhelming evidence of fraud. Any pardon Obama gave could not protect the Foundation itself from having its assets seized, because the Foundation is not a person. I humbly suggest that the DOJ put any further investigation into the Clinton Foundation on hold until after the elections. And if Trump wins, extend the investigation until after the inauguration.

So they tried as best they could to keep this quiet. The underlings were certainly pressured and limited. Once the Wiener records developed the underlings had the leverage they needed. It could no longer be kept “undercover.”

Hillary and her family are going to prison.
