“Minnesota in play?...............”
I wish that were the case, but there’s 7 other districts in the state, and the two that cover the cities of Minneapolis and St Paul will go heavily for Clinton. Could make some of that up in the suburbs, and the 7th district, and other rural districts will help some too. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will be enough.
Skank ~ 27%
Bank it.
In every election since Kennedy, I’ve predicted a win for the republican (except Romney)
I’m officially out of the predicting business now.
My track record ain’t eggzackly stellar.
Doubtful. About 65% of MN population resides in the Twin Cities (the San Francisco of the Midwest). Liberal lunacy reigns. Once you get out of the central cities - even if only out to the suburbs, it gets a lot more conservative. But I dont think there are enough exurban/rural folks to outweigh the Citiots.
Great hockey up there. Duluth East, Warroad, Coleraine, Grand Rapids, Eveleth, Cloquet, Bemidji, Hermantown, Roseau.
Yep, and though he made MN a national laughing stock, he turned out to be a pretty good governor - at least compared to the Target-trust-fund-baby addled dufus we have now.
This could be a blow-out for Trump!
I have been thinking that MN might be the one under the radar. For these reasons:
1) Obamacare rates almost doubling
2) pissed off Sanders voters
3) small black population
4) aging industrial base
I moved from Chicago to Georgia in 1968 and watched the whole South turn GOP. I remember Newt winning his west GA District in 1978. Then the Reagan Dems in 1980. Decades later in 2002 GA elected its first GOP Governor in 130 years. Now every state office in GA is held by the GOP.
It may take decades but the Rust Belt could turn red.
Who did this poll?
If that happened in Minnesota, it might make the race a toss up. Anyone called Republican in a statewide election in Minnesota needs at least, 60% of the real vote to, JUST MAYBE, overcome the voter fraud.
There are many thousands of ballots already completed and boxed up in the trunks of Democrat election judges' cars, especially in the northern "Arrowhead" part of the state. These ballots can be "found" the next day, if necessary, to insure a clinton victory. These ballots will be 100% Democrat, and in court, no Minnesota judge will find that unusual. They will say people who vote have a right to have those votes counted.
There are many other ways to corrupt the outcome due to our motor voter laws that make Republican chances in a statewide race pretty unlikely. Chalk up 10 electoral votes for the female zombie.
For those who are familiar with the name Gus hall, the eighth was his home district.
If this is truly a sign of what's going on nationwide, expect a trump landslide.
It won’t happen overnight, but this is IMHO the start of a long overdue realignment of the rust belt... Provided R’s aren’t stupid and screw it up.
I was in the arena when the USA miracle hockey team received their gold medal and saw in person Jim Craig drape himself in the flag.
“They will say people who vote have a right to have those votes counted.”
Even if the last time they showed up at a polling place was 1880! ;)
LOL — you’re welcome. That whole area was traditionally a hotbed of U.S. hockey talent. That’s why the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame is located in Eveleth, MN — a place most people have never heard of.
I don’t think Minnesota is in play, but I see this kind of trend as a bellwether of Trump’s strength in traditional Democratic strongholds in Rust Belt states.
Nothing more exciting than playoff hockey (especially when the Blackhawks are in the hunt!).
If you haven't already read it, I'd strongly recommend Wayne Coffey's book about the "Miracle on Ice," titled The Boys of Winter. It was published in 2005 to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the 1980 Winter Olympics, and it is a superb narrative of the win over the Soviets along with biographical sketches of all the U.S. players and coaches.
