Oct 24 (Reuters) - The average premium for benchmark 2017 Obamacare insurance plans sold on Healthcare.gov rose 25 percent compared with 2016, the U.S. government said on Monday, the biggest increase since the insurance first went on sale in 2013 for the following year.

The average monthly premium for the benchmark plan is rising to $302 from $242 in 2016, the Department of Health and Human Services said. The agency attributed the large increase to insurers adjusting their premiums to reflect two years of cost data that became available.

25 pct $60/mo for the benchmark. More for most policies, which are not the lucky benchmark.

People are receiving their increase notices NOW. They are mad as hell NOW.

Will Trump and his supporters exploit this?

I wonder whether 25% increases in a plan Hillary wants to expand will help Hillary, or will these huge increases in a plan Trump wants to repeal help Donald Trump.

They should.

Obama is the train wreck we all knew it would be - meanwhile, Hillary and Obama slap each other on the back.

Had enough yet, America?

Can't wait to see what my Under-65 retiree medical plan is next year when my wife and I retire. /s

Being a Cadillac plan, a few years ago it was a good thing (reasonable premiums, reasonably low deductible and out-of-pocket costs). But since Obamacare, the premiums have skyrocketed because of the inclusion of coverage retirees don't need or will ever use.

The premiums are probably going to be at the high end of Obamacare (Gold/Platinum), with somewhat lower deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. That's the bad news. The good news is we won't need to register for Obamacare, and after next year, my wife will be on Medicare and off the Under-65 coverage. I'll have a few more years to go

People who receive the increase will be the ones who are MAD as H. They will complain to family, inlaws, co-workers, etc.

That can be translated into votes... but only if Trump and his supporters exploit it creatively.

Modern Healthcare says: policy experts say the projected hikes are unlikely to affect the majority of people who enroll.

If that is true, it means that only 40% will be mad as H. Most of those 40% are already supporting Trump...let’s say 30%. That means that Trump has to reach the 10% who are not yet with him.

By all polls, a 3% shift will decide the winner. This is where the 3% is at. They don’t want to hear about lawsuits for slander. They don’t want to hear about Machado or Khan. They want to vent their anger over increased premiums.

These impacted people are the working class, not the middle class or rich. They are the same Dems who told me in 2014 they would not vote for Dem Nunn in GA because they were pi$$ed over Obamacare.

My health insurance had a 68% increase. This last year before I go to Medicare is costing me half of my income. I intended to save this for retirement but Obamacare destroyed that idea.

Type in a “state name obamacare price increase” to get the real price and not an average. Keep in mind this is a price increase on top of last years price increase and the year before.
Then there is the next year and the next year and all with less care.

Pennsylvania obamacare - almost double the cost!
http://www.pennlive.com/news/2016/10/pennsylvania.html

For example, the lowest price silver plan available in Harrisburg region counties will cost $345 per month for a 21-year-old non-smoker. The same plan, sold by Geisinger Health Plan, cost $193 per month in 2016.

Minnesota: 59% premium increase
Arizona: 116%
Oklahoma: 76%

In my area a 64 year old person is going to pay over $12K a year for a Bronze plan that isn’t subsidized. Over 18K for a gold plan.
