Ive been trying to figure out what common trait binds Clinton supporters together. As far as I can tell, the most unifying characteristic is a willingness to bully in all its forms.
If you have a Trump sign in your lawn, they will steal it.
If you have a Trump bumper sticker, they will deface your car.
if you speak of Trump at work you could get fired.
On social media, almost every message I get from a Clinton supporter is a bullying type of message. They insult. They try to shame. They label. And obviously they threaten my livelihood.
We know from Project Veritas that Clinton supporters tried to incite violence at Trump rallies. The media downplays it.
We also know Clintons side hired paid trolls to bully online. You dont hear much about that.
Yesterday, by no coincidence, Huffington Post, Salon, and Daily Kos all published similar-sounding hit pieces on me, presumably to lower my influence. (That reason, plus jealousy, are the only reasons writers write about other writers.)
Joe Biden said he wanted to take Trump behind the bleachers and beat him up. No one on Clintons side disavowed that call to violence because, I assume, they consider it justified hyperbole.
Team Clinton has succeeded in perpetuating one of the greatest evils I have seen in my lifetime. Her side has branded Trump supporters (40%+ of voters) as Nazis, sexists, homophobes, racists, and a few other fighting words. Their argument is built on confirmation bias and persuasion. But facts dont matter because facts never matter in politics. What matters is that Clintons framing of Trump provides moral cover for any bullying behavior online or in person. No one can be a bad person for opposing Hitler, right?
Some Trump supporters online have suggested that people who intend to vote for Trump should wear their Trump hats on election day. That is a dangerous idea, and I strongly discourage it. There would be riots in the streets because we already know the bullies would attack. But on election day, inviting those attacks is an extra-dangerous idea. Violence is bad on any day, but on election day, Republicans are far more likely to unholster in an effort to protect their voting rights. Things will get wet fast.
Yes, yes, I realize Trump supporters say bad things about Clinton supporters too. I dont defend the bad apples on either side. Ill just point out that Trumps message is about uniting all Americans under one flag. The Clinton message is that some Americans are good people and the other 40% are some form of deplorables, deserving of shame, vandalism, punishing taxation, and violence. She has literally turned Americans on each other. It is hard for me to imagine a worse thing for a presidential candidate to do.
Ill say that again.
As far as I can tell, the worst thing a presidential candidate can do is turn Americans against each other. Clinton is doing that, intentionally.
Intentionally.
As I often say, I dont know who has the best policies. I dont know the best way to fight ISIS and I dont know how to fix healthcare or trade deals. I dont know which tax policies are best to lift the economy. I dont know the best way to handle any of that stuff. (And neither do you.) But I do have a bad reaction to bullies. And Ive reached my limit.
I hope you have too. Therefore
I endorse Donald Trump for President of the United States because I oppose bullying in all its forms.
I dont defend Trumps personal life. Neither Trump nor Clinton are role models for our children. Lets call that a tie, at worst.
The bullies are welcome to drown in their own bile while those of us who want a better world do what weve been doing for hundreds of years: Work to make it better while others complain about how were doing it.
Today I put Trumps odds of winning in a landslide back to 98%. Remember, I told you a few weeks ago that Trump couldnt win unless something changed.
Something just changed.
The short answer here is that Hillary is a disciple of Saul Alinsky. This bullying we see from her camp is right out of Alinsky’s playbook.
But Trump is accused of hatred and bullying and violence. Go figure.
The election is almost here, and we still have never heard anyone in the mainstream media explore and report Hillary’s connection to Saul Alinsky. Somebody can dig up old videos of Trump saying things about women, but nobody can investigate Hillary’s extremist background. Go figure.
Trump seems to be turning some unlikely people, even lefties. Michael Moore (!) seems to have very recently jumped on the Trump train, because he sees it as a huge Eff You to the establishment. Ah, finally he finds a constructive thing to do with his anger.
“As the flames of love and loyalty are fanned....”
But Trump is accused of hatred and bullying and violence. Go figure.”
Which is also an Alinsky tactic.
So...Dilbert...are you Scott Adams? :)
That Michael Moore speech was fantastic
Trump’s “hatred” and “bullying” are mostly deliberate misinterpretations of his statements. One of Trump’s flaws (and paradoxially a strength of his) is his bluntness and occasional diarrhea of the mouth.
As he converts statements to policy positions, generally they are fair and executable concepts.
Hillary’s bullying occurs behind the scenes, using “inclusive” language in public while explicitly employing people to provoke her opposition. Further, as Mr. Adams notes, she paints Trump as extreme, justifying to her supporters any and all actions against him and his supporters.
you are entirely correct; spot on observations
Welcome to America’s Cultural Revolution; ask anyone from China about its proponents’ ‘tolerance.’
I like it when Trump insults people who really need insulting.
It seemed like he went a little off the rails with the Billy Bush episode. I am glad that he is back on board. Now if all the traitorous establishment Republicans could echo the same sentiment...
Yes. A good deal of the problem with political correctness is that some people deserve to be insulted, or at least criticized. But society now says “You can’t say that”.
Trump comes along and says what needs to be said. It’s refreshing.
“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.”
