But what is more interesting to me than where it came from, is how Mr. Trump has dealt with it—early apology, and turning things around royally at the second debate. He is human, was embarrassed, but we are not electing a Savior, we are electing a LEADER, and he is that!!

This was an early October surprise designed to get Trump off the ticket and replace him with someone else. The tape was leaked by the GOP-e, dems and the MSM in a coordinated attack. Notice the quick and sudden outrage and call to stepdown. They all thought this would rattle Trump and he would have a bad debate. By this time this week, they figured that Trump would have stepped down and a replacement would be named.
Well, that did not happen. Trump survived and kicked Hillarys ass in the debate. I think he is even stronger now than before. Now those responsible for this are being named.
I don't think there is any comparison to Reagan's first term because there were still some American democrats in the house and senate back then.
For goodness sake! James Bond played lead role with “Pussy Galore” in the 60’s. I think we can handle Trump’s bad prose while keeping it in context.

Exactly. When you move against a king you must kill the king. Ryan f’d up and left Trump standing. If Ryan was a smart man he would be announcing his decision to “spend more time with his family” today. But he is not a smart man so he will slowly suffer the political equivalent of “assignment to a weather station in Alaska”.
The leadership of both political parties is engaged in kabuki theater. There is no political suicide, the loser "wins," by having the perks and avoiding accountability, while maintaining a facade of "dutiful but failed opposition."
Both parties aim to "destroy America"in the sense that America will become a regional identity, but politically merged as the world lurches toward an even bigger top-down government in the style of the EU. It's what politicians do, grow "their company" which is politics and governing.
Credibility with the electorate is not a concern, at all.
I'm tellin' you, it looks to me almost like the end of the Roman Republic when Marius and Sulla were drawing up lists and wiping out their political opponents... then came the emperors.
