WASHINGTON, D.C., October 11, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – “Conservative Catholics” are the latest Americans to be smeared by members of Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign, leaked emails revealed on Tuesday show.

Catholic beliefs are bashed as “backwards” and conservative Catholics are termed responsible for “an amazing bastardization of the faith” in one of the more than 1,000 hacked emails from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta released Tuesday afternoon by WikiLeaks.

“I imagine they think it is the most socially acceptable politically conservative religion,” writes Clinton campaign Director of Communications Jennifer Palmieri. “Their rich friends wouldn't understand if they became evangelicals.”

The exchange between Palmieri, then president of the leftist Center for American Progress (CAP), John Halpin, a senior fellow for CAP, and Podesta, occurred in April 2011 and was entitled “Conservative Catholicism.”

“They can throw around ‘Thomistic’ thought and ‘subsidiarity’ and sound sophisticated because no one knows what the hell they're talking about,” Halpin wrote Palmieri and Podesta.

Halpin goes on to describe how “many of the most powerful elements of the conservative movement are all Catholic,” and refers to Catholic beliefs as “severely backwards” and asserts that conservative Catholics are utterly ignorant of Christian democracy.

“It's an amazing bastardization of the faith,” Halpin says in the email. “They must be attracted to the systematic thought and severely backwards gender relations and must be totally unaware of Christian democracy.”

An April 2015 email from Podesta to Palmieri on campaign rhetoric portraying Clinton as caring about American citizens has Podesta writing, “I know she has begun to hate everyday Americans, but I think we should use it once the first time she says I'm running for president because you and everyday Americans need a champion.”

The entire exchange on conservative Catholics is below:

Excellent point. They can throw around "Thomistic" thought and "subsidiarity" and sound sophisticated because no one knows what the hell they're talking about.

Now that the NWO has installed the fake Pope, he’ll be bringing the Catholic church in line with her way of thinking.

Yeah, Jennifer, you would imagine that, since the concept of actual, genuine faith - other than the worship of money - is laughably incomprehensible to you. That's why the light of God shine through you so palpably.

It doesn't matter. American Catholics, for some reason (guilty conscience?), as a majority, will continue to dutifully vote Democrat, even though it's the party of infanticide.

I've never understood the impulse. I guess it has to do with "caring for the poor", even though Republican policies will ultimately raise more people out of poverty.

I don't get how Catholics (and other "compassionate" Americans) seem so willing to cede the duties of Christian charity to Government. Does it subconsciously relieve them of personal responsibility if they feel like the Government is taking care of the poor?

The reality is that such well-meaning but misguided policies have done nothing but increase the numbers of those in poverty, and create more dependence on Government.

Wasn't it the Apostle Paul who said "If a man will not work, let him not eat"?

The Revolution is ON!

Vote Trump!

They don’t get it, do they? They think it’s just another political position, instead of obedience to the Lord of the Universe.

Sadly many liberal Catholics agree - they think that Pope Francis is going to get rid of all the conservative Catholics - they support such actions and they support Hillary :(

It’s not Hillary saying this, just her chums. Still, no doubt they would have problems with any conservative faith.

Ah, but let them encounter a religion where women’s genitals are mutilated, homosexuals are murdered and ‘honor killings’ are common and... hey, that’s cool as long as they aren’t those evil Christians!

They truly are morons. The doctrine of subsidiarity is a US Constitutional doctrine—see the 10th Amendment—as well a Church doctrine:

“Matters should be handled at their lowest competent level”.

Simple.

Sidewalks get repaired locally. Schools too. Police matters handled by the city or county. Universities handled at the state level. National defense gets handled at the federal level. Good grief, this isn’t rocket science.
