Ohio Sen. Rob Portman Calls on Trump to Quit
Wall Street Journal ^ | October 8, 2016 | Reid J. Epstein

Posted on 10/08/2016 6:51:47 PM PDT by Pinkbell

Ohio Sen. Rob Portman became the latest Republican senator to call on Donald Trump to quit the race.

“While I continue to respect those who still support Donald Trump, I can no longer support him,” Mr. Portman said in a statement. “I continue to believe our country cannot afford a Hillary Clinton presidency. I will be voting for Mike Pence for president.”

Mr. Portman becomes the latest in a flood of Republicans to have abandoned the party’s presidential nominee Saturday, a day after a 2005 recording emerged of Mr. Trump making lewd and degrading comments about women.

He will lose ALL of the so called Christian support.

Only if the "so called Christian" supporters would somehow prefer to elect someone who is corrupt, evil, and totally against their views.

Ummm, the secret service needs to start looking into these rino’s who are going to vote for Pence.

I am voting for Pence...because he is a part of the Trump-Pence ticket!

And I, btw, am not a Rino...

Another name to add to the list. I was at a party where most were Democrats and they were discussing their efforts of contacting in person all Democrats in their neighborhoods and urging them to vote early.

While they had objections to Trump, they felt these comments that have caused such hysteria were nothing to get excited over and couldn't understand why the fuss.

A major benefit of a Republican majority in the Senate is that Trump’s judicial choices should stream through.

What makes you think that? The RINOS turning against Trump now will do the same thing if he is elected. They talk like they want to have conservative judges, but that's not who they actually appoint.

I understand that, but those are political decisions that smart people are hired to help a candidate make.

I'll tell you this, though ... If I were living in Ohio there is no way in hell I'd vote against Portman just because he's calling for Trump to get out of the race. There is absolutely no upside to casting a vote for Trump while sitting on your hands and letting a Democrat win that Senate seat.

Because I'll tell you something right now: a Trump presidency and a Democratic Congress is probably the worst combination imaginable ... because you're going to find out quickly that Trump's brand of "conservative" is really nothing of the sort.

Yes, I read your essay on that. That could be correct. It’s fairly clear the entire political class wants a Hillary regime. Trump is far too great a threat to the status quo. If Hillary’s people can’t remove the threat, they’ll pass the ball back to the RINO Establishment (despite their failure to remove him as a threat in the primary). If this doesn’t work, and it shouldn’t, “they” may go to even more extreme measures for complete eradication.

If you're going to lay out that tired old sh!t about Supreme Court nominations, then I've got news for you: you're going to go to your grave disappointed because the Federal judiciary is filled with @ssholes who were nominated by Republican presidents. Just ask Kim Davis, who spent time in a Kentucky jail because of some pr!ck nominated by George W. Bush. I don't have any faith in the judiciary branch of government no matter who is elected.

Actually, I happen to know more about the Judicial Branch than you do, AC. The Judicial Branch of Black-Robed Clowns and the Media are two of my FR specialties, over 20 years. :)

I have this "thing" about Oligarchs.

If Trump turns out to be a completely radioactive candidate, you run a serious risk of losing everything in this election.

So why are the Republicans helping the Democrats do exactly that? Because they are actually hoping Hillary wins, so they can go back to their corrupt business as usual in Washington.

Have you ever wondered why after the Republicans said they would tackle the conservative agenda once they had a majority in the Senate and the House nothing actually happened?

Isn't it odd that none of these guys clamored for the impeachment of Bill Clinton, or spoke our against Hillary Clinton for her many crimes, but they are besides themselves because 11 years ago Donald Trump was bantering in private with some guys on a bus?

And why didn't they all demand that John McCain drop out of the Senate based on his foul comments about his wife, and his joke about a gorilla raping a woman?

Perhaps better to pull it out and leave it laying face-first on the ground, or paint a red “X” over the name to send a message.

Their are only 2 sides in this fight, The Establishment vs The People.

The GoPUzzy have had plenty of ammo from what these people have been up to yet, nothing is said. They make me sick!!

Ohio Ping!!!

Portman is polling well in Ohio vs Ted Strickland (former gov of Ohio).

At one of Trump’s early rallies in Ohio, he endorsed Portman, suggesting to supporters they should support Portman.

Thanks, Pinkbell

If all of that is true, then why did you wait until today to tell everyone that you're voting against these Republican "sell-outs?" Did you think they were going to be any more honest and principled if Donald Trump is president?

If you think they're corrupt, then great -- vote against them. I have no problem with that.

Unless they have something better like a video of Trump drowning a box of puppies they would have waited until a few days before the election to use this to max effect.

I agree that this is the Bush-Romney axis of evil.

They don’t have to “stick their necks out for Trump”. They can simply say they don’t like / condone this behavior, but Mrs. Clinton would be far worse for the country, which creates the opening to follow up on that topic...
