Evangelical Leaders Stand By Trump

Family Research Council head Tony Perkins told BuzzFeed News his support for Trump is about conservative policy stances, not personal values.

“My personal support for Donald Trump has never been based upon shared values, it is based upon shared concerns about issues such as: justices on the Supreme Court that ignore the constitution, America’s continued vulnerability to Islamic terrorists and the systematic attack on religious liberty that we’ve seen in the last 7 1/2 years,” Perkins said.

And Faith and Freedom Coalition president Ralph Reed cited abortion, the economy and the Middle East as keys to his continued backing of Trump.

“Voters of faith are voting on issues like who will protect unborn life, defend religious freedom, create jobs, and oppose the Iran nuclear deal,” said Reed.

“Ten-year-old tapes of private conversation with a television talk show host rank very low on their hierarchy of concerns,” he added.

I think everyone is learning their lesson of what happens if you sit on your moral high horse, and decide to sit elections out. Haven’t the last eight years, especially the last four, proven that.

No one is buying the media this time around.

Good!

The Soviet Union abruptly withered and died when enough people decided they didn’t believe in it anymore.

Thank God Mike Pence is on the ticket... so Trump has shown some very good judgment there. Knowing Pence is VP gives me comfort that he can do great help for the country and influence Trump for the better. To keep our liberties, especially our freedom to worship (which Trump has promised), we have no other choice. Hillary has already informed us that we can no longer hold to unPeeCee Christian views on marriage, life and faith... ALL must worship at the alter of BAAL (the “holy” state). As she, Obama and the D.C. cartel have a 180 opposite view of the meaning of Exodus 20:3.

it’s pretty simple, if you want America to complete the transition to a,third world nation that imports terrorism..vote for Hillary or stay home. if you want to lose the Supreme Court for generations and never get it back..vote for Hillary or stay home

"...My personal support for Donald Trump has never been based upon shared values, it is based upon shared concerns about issues..."

Fortunately, this is the part that the MSM in particular, and the Left in general just doesn't understand.

Yes, it is that simple, amazing how many so called ‘Conservatives’ can’t see that.

Pence is a praying man and I believe that, even as we speak, he is praying for Trump and encouraging him to continue to fight the good fight. God has placed Pence strategically alongside Trump. They need each other to reclaim the White House and the nation.

Also, though less talked about, Donald is coming around on social conservatism issues as well.

The marriage issue is thorny with disagreements between segments of Christendom. According to something that in evangelical theology is called a “loose biblical view” Donald makes the most of his situation with his current wife by staying with her and thereby ceasing to swing. This does not mean his playboy days are excused, and they are causing difficulties for Donald now which he must surmount with the help of the Lord, but it would be a forgiveness like that extended to King David for Bathsheba whom he acquired in considerably more notorious circumstances. This at least is what I learned from a pastor from the Dallas Theological Seminary.

Roman Catholic and Orthodox traditions are much tighter about this kind of thing, as are even some evangelical readings of the bible. But Donald doesn’t come from any of those.

Donald isn’t every single thing we might wish for America all tied up in a neat package with a bow. However he seems to have the thing that “covers a multitude of sins” i.e. love. He loves America and very demonstratively wishes its good, even the point of boasting about what could be done.

Yes... Pence has a quite clear faith.

His courage may be lacking in some circumstances. I remember how he got bowled over on the religious liberty legislation he was helping put through in Indiana. Maybe Trump with his perennial optimism can help Pence’s courage, as Pence with his faith can help Trump’s faith.

i don't think that anything is really different.

Wasn't any moral issues that beat McLunitic or Romney. It was the fact that they were weak candidates who had nothing really different to offer the voting public.

True, there were some people who would not support Romney simply because he is a Mormon, however i contend that they were fewer in number than the #anyonebutTrump crowd.

There is a proverbial saying about not being able to see the forest for the trees, which appears to apply here.

The question we should be asking is how can we gain a better advantage in our circumstances, and it isn’t by holding out for a mortal who is sufficiently perfect (and often, as Ted Cruz, that turns out to be more veneer than core). It is by engaging the power of the Lord while playing the cards that we do have.

Note to Paul Ryan and Rep. Chaffetz. This is what a man with balls and a spine is like.

And this is why I will continue to support him. If he were perfect I would be a lot more nervous than I am now. He said some stupid things but NONE of them compare to the corruption and evil of the Clintons.
