Top climate skeptic to lead Trump's EPA transition team

Donald Trump is tapping a high-profile climate change skeptic to lead administration transition efforts for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Myron Ebell, director of energy and environment policy at the conservative think tank Competitive Enterprise Institute, is heading Trump’s EPA transition preparation, E&E Daily reported Monday.

Ebell is an outspoken, longtime skeptic of the scientific consensus that human activity is dramatically changing the climate. He often refers to warnings about global warming as climate “alarmism” and is a vocal critic of President Obama’s climate change regulations.

Ebell has argued that the Clean Power Plan is illegal and that the Paris climate change agreement is unconstitutional.

Trump also doubts that human activity causes climate change.

The Republican presidential nominee’s EPA would be responsible for implementing his ambitious agenda of dismantling major pieces of Obama’s climate legacy, like the Clean Power Plan for power plants and the Paris agreement.

Republican energy lobbyist and strategist Mike McKenna is heading Trump’s Department of Energy transition team, and David Bernhardt, a lawyer at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck and former Interior Department solicitor under President George W. Bush, is leading the transition for that department, E&E reported.

The Trump campaign didn’t respond to requests to confirm E&E’s report. Ebell referred questions to the campaign.

We just darn. I’ve been told Trump isn’t really a conservative.

Hope the EPA career pukes have their resume up to date.

In every agency their is a rats nest that needs to be expelled before you can turn things around, these rats will be working behind the scene getting orders from head rats on the outside to disrupt and sabotage anything coming down or implemented

That is very true. Unfortunately, there is also a career group that has been corrupted over the past 20 or so years, and they have civil-service job protection, plus they are unionized through SEIU. They can be temporarily cowed, but they will work against the new order.

There needs to be a creative solution for that problem. It exists in many departments, although the most prominent are State, EPA, and Education. Lesser cleanings are needed in ATF and the Forest Service, as well.

Civil Service was a cure worse than the disease.

Govt unions should be outlawed.

Failing that, vigorous prosecution could make a real difference.

Wow, this is fantastic. IMO, Trump should confirm this tonight at the debate, and also point out the high paying jobs and economic growth that would result.

Whoever runs EPA has a real mess to cleanup. Fake science, bad and destructive, illegal policies. Staff who are in bed with environmental-facists and create lawsuits just so the government can intentionally lose so the judge “forces and writes” law for the EPA. Most/all of the EPA need to be fired, and that is very hard to do with government union types.

Same is true with every government organization. We really need people who can figure out how to fire people en-mass while rolling back and changing bad policies.

#NeverTrump will be really upset about this.

They demand that capitalism be brought to heel, and that world leaders do SOMETHING about the climate before we are all killed by sharknadoes!!

The "creative solution" is to have the transition team leader for EPA hand off the leadership of that agency to a person who will drive out the parasites by making the work environment *challenging*. Imagine Sarah Palin as EPA Administrator, firing out a "This Week @ EPA" bulletin every Monday, with a large photograph of her pasted at the top of each issue. You'd probably see half the troublemakers leave of their own volition within the first six months.

Use the same approach at every agency, then after the first year shuffle some of the administrators around (to "broaden their experience") and see if the new leadership peels another layer off the union onion.

Just beating this unholy genie back into the bottle will add 1+ points per year to the GNP. That doesn’t even consider the hundreds of thousands of jobs the bitch and her EPA goons have in their cross hairs for the next four years.

Civil service was instituted in the late 19th century to professionalize government staffing by Grover Cleveland. It wasn’t bad at first.

Even FDR said that unionization of government employees was a terrible, unthinkable idea.

But, JFK signed an executive order allowing it.

Many initiatives, over time, become the opposite of what they were originally intended.

I totally agree that unions should be outlawed for government employees! Teachers, too.
