Latest Crime Statistics Released: Increase in Violent Crime, Decrease in Property Crime

Today, the FBI released its annual compilation of crimes reported to its Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program by law enforcement agencies from around the nation. Crime in the United States, 2015 reveals a 3.9 percent increase in the estimated number of violent crimes and a 2.6 percent decrease in the estimated number of property crimes last year when compared to 2014 data.

Arrests, by Race and Ethnicity, 2015

In 2015, 69.7 percent of all individuals arrested were White, 26.6 percent were Black or African American, and 3.6 percent were of other races.

Of arrestees for whom ethnicity was reported, 18.4 percent were Hispanic.

Of all juveniles (persons under the age of 18) arrested in 2015, 62.9 percent were White, 33.9 percent were Black or African American, and 3.1 percent were of other races.

Of juvenile arrestees for whom ethnicity was reported, 22.8 percent were Hispanic.

Of all adults arrested in 2015, 70.4 percent were White, 26.0 percent were Black or African American, and 3.7 percent were of other races.

Of adult arrestees for whom ethnicity was reported, 18.0 were Hispanic.

White individuals were arrested more often for violent crimes than individuals of any other race and accounted for 60.1 percent of those arrests.

Of adults arrested for murder, 50.4 percent were Black or African American, 46.5 percent were White, and 3.1 percent were of other races.

Black or African American juveniles comprised 50.8 percent of all juveniles arrested for violent crimes. White juveniles accounted for 59.1 percent of all juveniles arrested for property crimes.

Of juveniles arrested for drug abuse violations, 75.0 percent were White.

White juveniles comprised 55.7 percent of juveniles arrested for aggravated assault and 60.5 percent of juveniles arrested for larceny-theft.

The majority of people in prison are there for violent crimes, including 58% of black people. We have to counter the media-created myth that we’re locking up a generation for drug crimes.

Drug crimes account for only 13% of prisoners. And mere possession only 3.8%. (Yes, keeping a reserve of personal-use drugs may get you busted for intent to distribute.)

Would it be a surprise that "Property Crimes" are down when the category doesn't include any of the many cyberthefts that are replacing the physical thefts of old?

The article has a link to the FBI report, "Crime in the United States, 2015." There I clicked on "Property Crimes" to get to the Property Crimes page, which begins definition:

"...FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, property crime includes the offenses of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson."

I could not find anything there on cybertheft!

That page's link to "larceny-theft" which gives a definition that doesn't include cybertheft and in fact it specifically excludes "Embezzlement, confidence games, forgery, check fraud, etc.."

How easy is it for Obama's FBI to pat itself on the back for such a meaningless reduction in "property crimes?" About as easy as it is for the Obama Regime to pat itself on the back for a meaningless reduction in "unemployment." It's all in the definitions!
