It’s labeled for audio equipment. Probably just a shipping crate staged where it will be needed when they work on that aspect of the construction. Those lecterns are not in their final positions.
Wouldn’t putter a small person behind a taller, wider podium, emphasize that she is smaller, and putting a bigger, taller person behind a smaller podium would tend to make them look even bigger, I would think.
You can be assured that they already have the camera locations, angles and perspective planned so that both podiums will appear the same size on home TV.
All the proportions of Trump’s podium have been upsized in order for Trump’s podium to hide the scale differences. Look at how even the little stepped trim at the base is taller for his, as is the broader platform area of the podium up on top. And the whole thing is scaled wider as well.
That’s why she was demanding a sitting event and that she be allowed a step-stool or something to alleviate the “optics”.
What she doesn’t realize is that everyone KNOWS she is a very small person, oh and that she is short in stature too.
I think they’ve got it wrong. She’ll be behind the shorter podium. Otherwise she’ll be dwarfed by the larger podium and her head will be the only thing you see. Trump at 6’4” will be behind the larger podium.

Yep. Multiple cameras (for the viewing audience split screen), with a camera dedicated to each candidate, plus a few "roving" cameras. The dedicated cameras will be set to make the two candidates "look equal" visually.
I can understand giving her a box to stand on but making one podium physically taller than the other?
I thought I heard they made the smaller podium for Hillary because the Trump size would be too big for her. Maybe I misunderstood.

Recall that Vogue beauty spread for Debbie Wasserman Schultz years back, made her chunky thighs and butt almost disappear.
