Hillary Clinton is clinging to a lead in most national polls, but Donald Trump has been making up ground as they enter the kickoff presidential debate Monday with dramatically different expectations.

Mrs. Clinton, a lifelong politician’s wife turned politician, is hoping to show she is the only serious candidate. Mr. Trump, a novice politician who battered his way through the Republican primary race with insults and a lack of policy, will be at pains to prove he can behave on the biggest stage.

The big issues are: Trump is a political novice. Clinton knows everything about working the system. Clinton doesn't come off as authentic and she looks weak right now. Trump seems unreasonable (bully) and doesn't have a firm grasp of the issues.

Stress is not good for Hillary.

The long-term effect of this stress will be extremely hard on her.

That’s not how I see it. Clinton is perceived as a liar and an incompetent sick grifter.

Trump is perceived as a man who loves his country and is making an enormous sacrifice because he believes his wealth, experience and know-how make him one of the few that have a chance to MAGA for all Americans. Capiese?

Wow, that's real objective.

He was a bully in the primaries but he’s not doing it now. Least it doesn’t seem so.

Went out lunch with some “red diaper babies” today. They hate Mrs. Pickles. They hate Trump. They don’t know if they will go vote.

I suspect Trump will act presidential from now on. He’s got better handlers.

A blatant lie. Not worth reading any further, clearly just pro-Hillary propaganda.

Isn't it great that DC has such a great alternative newspaper to the Washington Post? Yep! What ever would we do without the Times to offer such even-handed contrast?</sarc>

Vote Trump!

Trump seems unreasonable (bully) and doesn't have a firm grasp of the issues.

I think Trump is very reasonable. Many of his opponents and detractors needed to be put in their place. That is how real men handle the kind of situation he found himself in.

He has a very firm grasp of the issues. Go to his website and read his position papers. Very detailed positions.

People keep saying that he doesn't have a grasp of the issues. If that is true, then explain how he has been able to develop and build all of his properties in numerous countries.

Oh, I know. It will be how my sister-in-law explains thatTrump lies and he is crooked.

One man’s “insult” is another man’s “bold defiance of politically correct nonsense”.

To most people’s expectations of this debate, Trump is the Jets. He’s gonna lose and if he wins it’s a HUGE thrill and gets everyone excited.

Hillary is the Giants. Spotty but solid history of winning and winning SBs, so when they bomb, you are shocked and aghast.

That works out great for Trump

BTW, I’m a Jets fan. No responses required.

Everyone is waiting for him to blow and her to faint. What debate? Debates do not win elections since Kennedy. Just the way it is.
