Has there been any discussion of changing the fees for a website? The power to set fees higher for users, or to discriminate against first tier economic countries in favor of third world countries in order to ‘equalize’ opportunities can be deadly for the internet.
Legislative Update regarding HR5418: This is the gist of my conversation...
The House leadership (Ryan) is very supportive of SR5418.
After learning that Trump is supporting a delay of internet control transfer, Democrats are trying to load up pork that GOP would normally never allow onto the CR if GOP wants to include language from the Protection of Internet Freedom Act.
The final CR may not be clean...things are changing daily.
Pressure needs to be directed to Nancy Pelosi’s office to stop playing politics with our Internet!
Hoping to have an update from the Senate later this afternoon.
I don’t know...Perhaps others have a more definitive answer...that said, nothing would surprise me and I have wondered exactly the same thing...
[you know these, but people need to know why I’m adding their names to ‘key words’]

McConnell Stabs Free Speech in the Back
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3472322/posts
... on Thursday Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., laid out a clean CR, a blueprint for a continuing resolution to fund the government from Oct. 1 through Dec. 9. It does not include a provision to delay the transfer.

‘The House leadership (Ryan) is very supportive of SR5418.’
Seriously?
Paul Ryan?
Yes !
That is what I was told...
Good working relationship between Duffy and Ryan...both from WI.
I need to talk to folks before commenting on McConnell, but may be more to story...he may not be wearing a black hat after all.
Fee increases will most likely occur if ICANN relocates to China.
ICANN is helping suppress free speech in China.
They have lost their sense of humanitarian purpose.
I don’t think they care very much if domain name owners have to pay more.
Their employees are getting paid very well these days ... salaray budget is $600 million over the past 3 years.
And ... the United Nations would like to use ICANN as their personal tax collection agency.
As a controlled utility-monopoly here in the US, their fees are regulated. Outside the
Ah ... so being that the senate doesn’t hold the purse strings, McConnell might have coordinated with Paul Ryan?
If China gets this gift we will face a huge orbital challenge. If diplomacy fails the key to controlling the internet is the satellite system [and possibly using landline connections again].
The next step might ultimately be a new fleet of communications satellites and satellite-killer tech:

I wouldn’t be too hard on Drudge. He was one of the few pointing out this outrage back when no one talked about it.
Uh ... just to be clear ...
Ryan is supportive of the S-Resultion or the H-Resolution?
It would be tragic if Trump loses. Hillary would have her internet gatekeeper on schedule.
And our communications would DE-volve.
If there was sizeable armed resistance it would be old-school v. high tech:
Ham radios, CBs, all hunted down by the Feds and required to stay mobile while avoiding satellite surveilance and security cameras.
Echelon able to monitor phone calls.
Our communications would be pathetic.
Uh ... just to be clear ...
Ryan is supportive of the S-Resultion or the H-Resolution?

Well most of conversation was framed around the House Resolution...Ryan and Duffy have good working relationship, both from WI, etc...
Not that Ryan doesn’t support the Senate Bill, just did not discuss it specifically.
You have Freepmail.
Not sure...
The Democrats are the problem from what I gather...So need to put pressure on Reid and Pelosi?!
Another point that I’ve not seen mentioned regarding this huge giveaway....
The domain registry system is a license to print money. Why the hell are we giving it away instead of selling it for billions of dollars.
The company I work for spends more than $50k per year to maintain its many domain registrations. Granted, they are stupidly using an expensive registrar, but it’s still a crapload of money. From just one company.
Eh, I think they still will—just not restricted to being in US and under US regs?

HANNITY IS TALKING ABOUT CRUZ ENDORSEMENT of TRUMP and JUST MENTIONED THE PROTECTION INTERNET FREEDOM ACT AS ONE OF CRUZ REASONS FOR ENDORSEMENT. Hannity said he should be discussing this issue more...
Folks, we are breaking thru the noise voices being heard!
Any twitter folks, please Tweet Hannity and other media types about importance of discussing this—this week!
I am not much of a tweeter, but I may try to learn over the weekend...
Yes but we are running out of time. 7 days til they steal the Internet from America. Drudge and everyone else needs to hit this hard this week because the debate and politics help the media bury the story and Congress is just trying to run out the clock.
Maybe Cruz bugs you, but Trump and Jeff Sessions and John Bolton agree with him on this.
