The DC Establishment Is The Party Of War
Conservative HQ ^ | 9/22/16 | George Rasley

Posted on 09/22/2016 6:12:34 AM PDT by xzins

In the modern era, in most of America’s past presidential elections the two major political parties presented a fairly clear distinction on the great issue of war and peace: Republicans opposed America’s entry into World War I, and into World War II until we were attacked at Pearl Harbor; Democrats eventually led the opposition against the Vietnam War, and to the two Persian Gulf wars conducted by the two Republican presidents Bush.

However, under Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton the idea that one party would be the “peace” party and one War Partyparty would be the “war” party has been turned on its head.

It no longer seems to matter which of the parties is in control of the presidency, and thus holds the role of Commander-in-Chief, the same cast of characters surfaces to beat the drums of war.

Adam Walinsky, who worked in the Department of Justice during the Kennedy administration and later served as legislative assistant and speechwriter to Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, who recently announced he was voting for Donald Trump had this to say in an op-ed for POLITICO about how the Obama-Clinton Democratic Party has become the party of war:

Here it is. John and Robert Kennedy devoted their greatest commitments and energies to the prevention of war and the preservation of peace. To them that was not an abstract formula but the necessary foundation of human life. But today’s Democrats have become the Party of War: a home for arms merchants, mercenaries, academic war planners, lobbyists for every foreign intervention, promoters of color revolutions, failed generals, exploiters of the natural resources of corrupt governments. We have American military bases in 80 countries, and there are now American military personnel on the ground in about 130 countries, a remarkable achievement since there are only 192 recognized countries. Generals and admirals announce our national policies. Theater commanders are our principal ambassadors. Our first answer to trouble or opposition of any kind seems always to be a military movement or action.

And later:

Nor has the Democratic Party candidate for president this year, Hillary Clinton, sought peace. Instead she has pushed America into successive invasions, successive efforts at “regime change.” She has sought to prevent Americans from seeking friendship or cooperation with President Vladimir Putin of Russia by characterizing him as “another Hitler.” She proclaims herself ready to invade Syria immediately after taking the oath of office. Her shadow War Cabinet brims with the architects of war and disaster for the past decades, the neocons who led us to our present pass, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yemen, in Ukraine, unrepentant of all past errors, ready to resume it all with fresh trillions and fresh blood.

Mr. Walinsky is most certainly right about the endless war that has been the hallmark of the Obama – Clinton foreign policy, and were the Republican establishment offering an alternative that candidate would have no doubt won the Republican primaries.

However, none of the establishment Republican candidates were offering any alternative; only Senator Rand Paul and Donald Trump were prepared to say America needed a different posture on national security and foreign relations.

What was the result of Trump’s criticism of how Obama, Clinton and the two presidents Bush conducted their wars in the Middle East?

All of the alleged Republican arms merchants, mercenaries, academic war planners, lobbyists for every foreign intervention, promoters of color revolutions, failed generals, and exploiters of the natural resources of corrupt governments all switched sides to back Hillary Clinton.

And the “Republicans for Clinton” and the #NeverTrump gang now brims with the allegedly Republican architects of war and disaster and the allegedly Republican neocons who led us to our present pass, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yemen, in Ukraine, unrepentant of all past errors, ready to resume it all with fresh trillions and fresh blood.

Of the many things revealed by the rise of Donald Trump and his populist – conservative movement, the collusion between establishment Democrats and establishment Republicans to keep America involved in endless wars is the most shocking.

Neither party establishment is prepared to advance a strategy for victory, neither party establishment is prepared to successfully “wage peace.” Only Donald Trump (and now Adam Walinsky) was prepared to say that endless war is not just political folly, but an indecent sacrifice of American lives and treasure.

On this ground alone, said Mr. Walinsky, he marks himself as greatly superior to all his competitors, earlier in the primaries and now in the general election. And we agree.

Hillary Clinton is a warmonger. If she wasn’t involved in a regime change, she was busy picking fights.

You are definitely right.

She also hates opposition, so expect Egyptian terrorists to get back-channel support to help her get even with Sisi.

The establishment is hell bent on getting young men killed and several million citizens incinerated in a war with Russia

The Dems have been known as the war party for about a hundred years. It’s a shame history isn’t taught anymore.

I agree with you. It’s amazing watching how offended neo-cons and clintonistas/democrats/liberals are regarding Russia. It’s as if the old commies in the USA are PO’d at Putin for not acting like their cold war masters from Moscow.

The best I can figure is they want to loot Russia’s natural resources.

The UniParty is the War Party and its goal is Globalism. It is united against Donald Trump.

Not exactly. Wars cost plenty. LBJ wouldn’t commit the resources required to defeat Communist North Vietnam because he was unwilling to divert the money from his real love, his Great Society domestic programs.
