It was a Saturday night and once New Yorkers realized that the bomb that had exploded in Chelsea had been dealt with, they carried on with their evenings.
In the city that never sleeps New Yorkers, long used to terrorism and threats to their safety, defied notions of taking cover and refused to change their plans to party long into the night.
At least 29 people were injured when a bomb went off on a crowded sidewalk around 8.30pm on West 23rd Street, which the city’s mayor Bill de Blasio has called “an intentional act.”
Even near the area, where a second bomb was located and diffused, New Yorkers met in bars and restaurants, uploading their activities to Twitter and Instagram. Some establishments posted messages assuring customers that planned parties were still on.

Reminds me of THE MAN EATERS OF TSAVO in which the railroad workers would become very nervous each night. Then they would hear the screams as a pair of lions killed a worker. The rest of the workers then knew they would get a few days reprieve and would then sleep well.
Same in 1960s Saigon. Viet Cong bombers would blow up a crowded movie theater, then everyone went to the movies as they knew there would be a few weeks reprieve until the next bombing.
The bomb was diffused? Neat trick.

I guess you could add to that, the reactions of the civilians.
Because Cuomo, during his presser this morning, after thanking everyone, said we will not allow this to happen........(never mind that it already happened). He also assured the public the unknown perps will be brought to justice, after of course, claiming there is no evidence it was international, meaning they won’t be looking at Islamic terrorism.

What do you expect from a city which has already forgotten the islamic terrorist attack on 9-11?
DiBlasio assured everyone that it wasn’t international terrorism, therefore there was nothing to worry about.

Terrorists, NYC doesn’t mind small pressure cooker bombs. So it’s a good place to practice.
Reason 805 why I'm glad I moved away from NYC a long time ago. Haven't missed it and haven't looked back. Have visited and with each visit it got worse. Doubt I'll be back.
