Distinguished pol of the week (fawning Kasich piece)
washingtonpost.com ^ | 9/18/16 | Jennifer Rubin

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has not been a Donald Trump apologist, like Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). To the contrary, he has signaled that he’s not voting for Trump. Kasich has not fanned irrational fear of immigrants, as did most 2016 GOP presidential contenders (Jeb Bush being the most obvious exception). He has not drunk the anti-trade Kool-Aid. In fact, he is helping President Obama sell the Trans-Pacific Partnership deal to Congress at a time of gross irresponsibility on trade.

Funny how we managed to "trade" from 1607 to 2016 without the TPP! Amazing!!

But it MUST be passed THIS YEAR!!!

And the usual, moderate republicans, and their lovers in the press want to help.

Cui bono? Or is he doing it on principle?

I think he’s doing it for principAl. Follow the money, or at least the promises of power and influence.

Jennifer Rubin is the “Right Wing” writer at the Washington Post.

Relatively speaking.

Few people outside the beltway, with the exception of a couple counties bordering the beltway, read the Washington Post. They have very little influence on the American political scene.

Yes, Jennifer Rubin is the “house conservative” at the Washington Post. This is similar to the enslaved countries of Eastern Europe when they were under Soviet control and they would make up an “opposition” party for Parliament. It would be called the “Peasants Party” or some similar title, would be allowed to get 1 to 5 percent of the vote while the Communists would get 95-99 percent and thy would give them a few seats in the Parliament where they would be deliberately ineffectual. Their “opposition” would consist of things such as encouraging a higher quota than the Reds insisted on for agricultural production. In other words, they were about as “conservative” as Jennifer Rubin.

Kasich must have gotten a multi-million dollar payoff to promote this job-killing nonsense. I am so ashamed that this fool is my governor.

Any Republican willing to undermine the chances of a Republican taking the White House will become a darling of the left wing press.

It’s a cheap way to get great press. Brits liked Benedict Arnold after all..

Funny how we managed to "trade" from 1607 to 2016 without the TPP! Amazing!!

The NAFTA/TPP/One-way Trade deal crowd always use this propaganda line to confuse the facts. Like you succinctly point out, the U.S has always briskly traded with rest of the world which makes this yet another bald face lie from the Globalist ruling class.

Prior to our sad experience with One-Way trade deals, America produced large trade surpluses, had a world leading manufacturing base, and technology that was light years ahead of the rest of the world.

Today, our manufacturing sector is gutted. Our technological know-how has been exported all over the world--enriching other nations while impoverishing ours. And the middle class, predictably, is being squeezed out of existence.

Yeah, Sure, we really need more corporate written trade deals like TPP. If TPP is enacted we are done....and so is any hope of turning this country around.

Can you imagine having to ask an unelected trade minister for permission to make minor changes to OUR trade policies or settle trade disputes? This is Pure Treason!

Kasich has been pathetic in this whole process.

Kasich is a Traitor to his country. He is a globalist sellout through and through.

Speaking of which, during the primaries, I saw an interesting exchange at one of John Kasich's so-called townhall meetings. A guy from the audience asked him what his opinion was about making the Federal Reserve more transparent and accountable and Kasich just teed off on the guy.

He suggested that he didn't know anything about modern finance, and that he was just uninformed rube. And Kasich said it in a demeaning holier than thou manner (no John is not a nice guy).

But the really interesting part happened a couple of minutes later when a lady in the audience told Kasich that he did not answer the previous guy's question about of Federal Reserve and had belittled him.

All of a sudden John Kasich started stuttering and back peddling saying he didn't mean to insult the questioner and that oh, yes, there are some problems with Fed but yeah, we just need to tinker with it..blah blah blah.

In that instance the smiling nice-guy mask that Kasich wears came off and he showed himself to be corrupt Schmuck that he truly is. This is another beltway clown/ traitor that needs to have been fired yesterday. Hello Ohio!

Rubin is another corporate liberal. Of course she loves Kasich.

The only “irresponsibility on trade” these days are current trade agreements.
