Thanks!

Scary thread: ALAS, BABYLON, Post your "post-attack" conditions of YOUR CITY here.

Almost surreal reading these threads today. Islam should be Christian by now if Washington or Jefferson were President.

I remember reading your thread. I was home that morning watching FNC when the first plane struck and immediately booted the computer to follow what was happening on FR.

Impossible to forget that day - it was shocking and unreal.

Driving toward DC when the first plane attack was being described on the radio. Arriving at the office, staff was watching TV when the Pentagon was attacked. We could see the smoke at the Pentagon from the 5th floor window of our building. It was a terrifying feeling.

Praying for our Nation, the lost and those who are still suffering from that barbarism.

Yes, there were many wise FReepers gathering information and foretelling events that day before the MSM did.

We were sitting in a restaurant having breakfast, on our way back from a week long driven work trip in Vegas for hubby’s 2 way Radio company,(USAF Staff Sgt Vietnam Era) his boss called as we were leaving, and he stood in stunned silence listening to his boss tell him on the phone, just kept saying Your SHI$$ING ME! over and over again. The trip that took 3 days to get out there took 2 to get back, we were glued to radio and TV when we were forced to stop, didn’t see a HWY Patrol officer the whole trip back. We did see a couple of Towel Heads acting weird at one gas stop.

Thanks for posting.

It’s shameful that the most recent reference to 9/11 that I’ve heard on the radio is crazy old ed asner hawking his 9/11 troofer madness.

Grazie for the post. I seem to recall some mention at the time of a subway operator that redirected the trains away from the World Trade Center rail stop. This kept thousands out of the World Trade Center, if it were to be true. I was just wondering if anyone else heard the same thing.

I remember feeling uneasy when news of the first plane impacting the tower aired, knowing it was a terrorist act when the second plane hit and, when news of the Pentagon broke, that not only NY, but our nation, was under attack. It’s a sad day of remembrance, but one I hope is not forgotten. History is written by the victors and the memory of 9/11 is waning and, if given the chance, many will have us forget both 9/11/2001 and 9/11/2012.

To and For Sarah's List on this Day of Days

Where were YOU 15 years ago this day?

I was 13 years old in Middle School. This was the era before ubiquitous cell phones and TV's in classrooms.

I had heard rumors throughout the day of a plane crash, then a plane crash into a building, then an Accident at the World Trade Center. Then the unthinkable.

So it wasn't until 5th Hour, History Class, that I got to a Classroom with a Television, just in time to see the Second Tower Fall.

As anger turned to fear, I was worried that the Terrorist would come to my school, because if I were a Terrorist, I would attack any all "soft targets" didn't matter where or why, just pick a school or Shopping Mall. Then as were prepared to leave School and my Mom came to pick up my Sister and I, I was terrified for my Dad, he worked for the Power Company and was leaving for work soon, If I were a Terrorist, I'd attack the power stations.

I spent the rest of the day in my Room watching the News, I remember seeing the Fall of WTC 7 and wondered what would happen next.

So here we are, 15 years and I can say for certain, everything changed that day.

This is also the First 9/11 where the Freshmen in High School will learn it as History, instead of Life like me when I was their age.

They have on the headlines of the super liberal rag The NY Daily News a montage of all the victims and "Have we forgotten?" on the headlines. Are they being sarcastic or what? This is the same paper that endorsed twice the defender of radical Islam, B. Hussein Obama - the guy who just gave $33 billion to Iran, and now the Daily News wants to put one of the causes of 911 back in the White house: The Clintons. So I guess the answer to their question is yes. Yes you have forgotten and pretty damn fast as did most liberal twits.

Had just finished packing things in the SUV for our family week-long campout in the Smokies and other nearby National Forests. Trip was postponed a few weeks.

I was surfing Free Republic as a lurker, when I noticed that the page I was on wouldn’t refresh any new comments.

As I was searching for a new thread, I began reading about the horror that had happened and thought it was an accident and began praying for those involved.

About the same time, my son called me from work and told me it was no accident, as another plane had just hit the other tower. Began praying for our country, as I realized we were under attack.

Not long after, heard on the news that a third went down in a field.

Just as Pearl Harbor has waned. It Patriotism is not taught, and history not read and remembered it is forgotten. When our generation passes, there will be few who remember the truth.

I was working in lower Manhattan that day, about eight blocks north of the WTC. I was at my desk when the first plane hit. I heard the sound and everyone on my floor moved to the south side of the building to watch from the large windows on that side of the floor what had just happened. We saw the black billowing smoke coming from the top of the tower.

I was still watching when the second plane hit. I saw it flying in very low and within a few seconds I saw it hit the second tower. The sight of the flames shooting out of the tower on impact is one I will never forget.

I was sitting in my contractor work cubicle at Fort Hood. My co-worker sitting behind me stated that a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. I knew that the likelihood it was an accident was pretty slim and it was probably terrorism. I walked downstairs to the Brigade conference room to watch Fox News on their big screen tv. There were already sveral officers and NCOs sitting there watching it all unfold. We watched the second plane hit. Surreal. We all looked at each other and knew we were at a state of war. Some of the men in that room with me that day would not survive their combat tour to Iraq.

I spent a good part of that day lurking (more than usual) on FR, reading all of the real time reports that I couldn’t otherwise get. I finally signed up to FR later in October.

Fort Hood went into lockdown that day. At the end of the workday, we were instructed to go home and work from home until entry security onto post could be established. When we finally did return to work several days later, it took hours to get on post. Things finally returned to a state of “normalcy” about a week later.
