Dissent Will Not Be Tolerated: What the Case of a Wyoming Judge Means for All of Us
The Witherspoon Institute ^ | August 30, 2016 | Jonathan G. Lange

On Wednesday, August 17, the Wyoming Supreme Court heard a case that has huge implications for each and every one of us.

The case involves Judge Ruth Neely, who has served with distinction for twenty-one years as the municipal judge in Pinedale, Wyoming. Since municipalities have no authority either to issue a license or solemnize a marriage, you would think that she’s unaffected by all the hoopla over same-sex marriage. But you would be mistaken. Because of her beliefs about marriage, the Wyoming Commission on Judicial Conduct and Ethics (CJCE) wants to remove her from her job and disqualify her for service anywhere in the Wyoming judiciary.

At what point do we cross the line and become a totalitarian police state? Or has that already happened?

Wyoming...thoughts of freedom, cattle, open range and target practice...and trout come to mind.

Those are conservative things...therefore my conservative brethren fell asleep to allow the libs put this judge in place.

Wake up out there.

Actually, as I read the article the libs want to destroy this judge because she doesn’t want to participate in the charade of homosexual “marriage”.

Wyoming is an historically Republican state, but it is also a state with a strong GOP-e wing, as represented by the Cheney family and others. Through these country club Republicans, even if the country clubbers wear Stetsons and boots, nasty little bureaucracies like the Wyoming Commission on Judicial Conduct and Ethics come into existence. The GOP-e is more interested in the uniparty consensus, in this case the “marriage” of perverts, than Christian or conservative principles.

Pretty sure we're looking at that line in the rear-view mirror.

Could you openly criticize gays, Muslims, illegals, obama, Clinton ... or any other protected species without fear of losing your job/business/etc.?

We have ever more militarized police responding to and escalating situations rather than de-escalating them. People are routinely harassed, threatened, and harmed up to and including killed for merely daring to exercise their rights or voice an opinion counter to that accepted by the elite.

We have bammy openly bragging about going around Congress. Clinton promising to act with or without them. Educated people who really should know better advocating prison for "climate deniers." Loons advocating killing NRA members - and getting away with it.

Actually, really thinking for yourself - not just believing you are thinking for yourself because the MSM is telling you their message has you thinking for yourself - and exercising your freedoms and liberties are becoming radical, counter-culture acts. Increasingly, in some weird Orwellian nightmare, we're being "told" that you either buy in to the message of the day and be led around like sheep...or you are guilty by association with any and every thing every done or said by any and everyone else who dares to disagree. "What, you don't like pickles? Joe doesn't like pickles, he had a cat but got rid of it. You hate cats! Cat hater! Off with his head!" Yeah, it is becoming just that silly.

We're already there in many areas of American life.

I went there on a trip to the Grand Tetons. It's a MAGNIFICENT state...almost empty of people. I think that there are more tourists than the state population.

With this story: GIANT tempest in a teapot.

This country is eventually going to figure out the right path to take. Unfortunately, I suspect it’s only going to happen after it’s filled with Mexican Muslims.

Why is it when a STATE court makes a decision, it become “law of the land” if it is something the libtards want, but when it is “concealed carry” it only applies to that state?

Stayed in Pinedale years ago while hiking along the Green River. Still remember the town sign: “Pinedale...population 1200. All the civilization you need.” Amazing that such a small bit of dissent can upset the apple cart. But then that’s how the left created this situation to begin with.

This ruling, whatever it will be, will only apply to Wyoming.

"This ruling, whatever it will be, will only apply to Wyoming."

Don't worry, if it's favorable to the left, it will be coming to your state soon - and to the federal courts shortly therafter.

Aspects of a totalitarian Police State have been in place since FDR. The trend has been in that direction ever since, with a slight roll back under Reagan. List actions that were once discretionary that are now illegal—and not only illegal, but socially derided by the self-annointed. You may be surprised at the extent.

I agree with you. It is time to recognize the totalitarian and unconstitutional aspect of all of the anti-discrimination laws. We should scrap them all. The government has no business getting involved in interpersonal relationships.

You can always count on Americans to do the right thing, after they’ve exhausted all other options.

And the Cheneys, of course, have a gay daughter.

Oh no ... Like gay marriage (from a Texas case, I believe?) it will become “law of the land”

Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
