To fund construction of a new U.S. border wall, Donald Trump and senior advisers are considering various ideas, including the use of assets seized from drug cartels and others in the illicit drug trade.

As the debate over who will pay for the wall dominates the discussion on cable news, sources involved in the pre-planning of the GOP nominee’s Mexico trip told LifeZette the Trump camp is looking for innovative ways to pay for the construction of the border wall that both countries can support. Sensitivities in Mexico regarding Trump’s visit, and specifically paying for the border wall, are running high.

I agree.

However, I thought seized assets were forfeited to us anyhow after the trial. So in realty, it's not a new source of funds to pay it off.

Putting a tax on money wire transfers from the US to Mexico sounds like a better plan to me.

If we know they are drug cartel assets and those who we got them from were found guilty, go for it.

Just grant them all amnesty and issue them a SS# and part of the amnesty plan is tax them at 95%. Since their transferring $24 Billion that would amount to $22.8 Billion and amnesty expires when the wall is complete.

It would be used for just the wall and not for other things that the present administration's wasted projects.

What I love about Trump is that everyone has now conceded that there will be a wall. Opponents are now just fighting over some small details.

The issue has been.... who the 'us' is.

I've never seen a penny of it, nor found a chart from the government explaining WHERE they sent or used the money.

Between that and taxing remittances there should be no problem making Mexico pay for the wall!

Let’s stick with a tax on wire transfers, shall we. This sounds too much like the old “civil” “forfeiture” scam.

If he can find a funding method that is linked to Mexico, all the power to him.
But I believe securing the borders of this country is a legitimate use of taxpayer money.
Savings from welfare that would have been paid to illegals should be plenty of justification for the cost.

You cannot possibly be pretending that you don’t know that “civil” “forfeiture” is ALWAYS done because they think you’re part of a big drug operation.

Media wants us all to argue over how the wall will be built.

I don't really care. They can use tax dollars if they want. Just build it!
