Just to argue with their understanding of free speech doesn’t address the Constitutional protection for free exercise of religion.
It precedes free speech in the first amendment and is a separate right.
Free exercise is the right to be YOUR religion 24/7 wherever you happen to be.

BS!! Clemson is more religious-oriented than 95% of all other campuses. "Praying" does not require placards or a megaphone.
Those who want to preach on campus will have to follow the rules and go where you wont disrupt classes.

Greenville talk radio has a good grasp on this situation and is following up big-time.
Ain’t gonna fly in the Upstate unless Clemson secedes from S.C.

But no one stood up to this dirty little state supremacist, did they? He should have been pointedly ignored.

Your first mistake was thinking the Constitution is worth the paper it was written on these days.
Step back Citizen peon!
Hopefully these sorts of people will have a lot less voice during a Trump administration.
One visit by 50 Justice department personnel should reduce these symptoms.

Just need to politely point out to him that the entire country is a “free speech area” and say you’ll pray for him.

Dude. Read the Constitution. Clemson still gets significant funds from the State. The Constitution is supposed to protect the free exercise of religion from State interference - including bodies funded by the State - not relegate it to a broom closet.
To: dixie1202
I can’t either. This does not represent the majority view in the Upstate.

Freedom of speech and freedom of religion are severely restricted i the tiny little minds of liberals. I miss the days when even liberals supported the Bill of Rights and our God-given liberty, but that was a long time ago.

I would yank my kid out of that college so fast he would have to go back for his body parts.
All PC people. You are no longer welcome in our country. Go find another one to screw up!

Shame on Clemson, foisting these Leftists on S. C. This little Gestapo wannabe should have been handed a copy of the Constitution with the First Amendment underlined and a notice that he was being sued for a civil rights violation. If you don’t use your freedom, you lose your freedom.
To: xzins
It seems impossible that it has come to this. I never could have imagined that this would happen in our country.

Many mistake freedom of speech for liberty to say anything at any time and not be subject to consequences. Not even a little child has that kind of freedom. “Watch your mouth.” Right language, like right thinking, does not come naturally. Praying in accord with the Creator, at least as He invites and teaches prayer, not an activity to be used in the interest of making political points.
