At the very least we should do the purple finger thing. Make sure no one votes more than once. But, yes, Photo ID for registered voters just makes sense.

The ONLY reason not to photo ID is voter fraud...Pure and simple...

If we did the purple finger thing, we would have to do away with early voting or they could scrub it off....

Under the revised rules, won’t most everyone show a picture ID anyway? Just to save time; I don’t see that many with utility stubs as ID.

The purple ink used in Iraqi elections has to wear off. I don’t like or trust early voting.

So whats wrong with judges that they strike down these laws?

Do they NOT know about the myriad of examples where you have to show id, poor minority or not?

And if they do know that why do they get stupid when voter id cases come their way?

[Yeah, i imagine in know very well why...]

Purple finger REQUIRED for voters with no ID.

Optional for voters with ID as a badge of (there’s a word that goes here, something like: courage, pride, involved citizenship, franchise, or ?)

discriminated again poor, minority and disabled voters and ordered a judge to approve new interim rules for the Nov. 8 election.

You mean the very same poor who have to provide this same ID to get the government bennies they receive because they are so poor?

Oh!

Golly and gosh darn, I don’t have a photo ID. Maybe I should vote absentee, by mail.

Idiots.

:: seven forms of identification currently accepted by Texas law
a Texas driver license issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS)
a Texas election identification card issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS)
a personal identification card issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS)
a license to carry a handgun issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS)
U.S. military identification card containing the person's photo; U.S. citizenship certificate containing the person's photograph; a U.S. passport. ::

Seems to me, some folks might be worried about outstanding warrants. DPS is the State Trooper realm out here.

Exactly. NC Legislature managed to pass a voter ID law only to have it overturned in court. Governor McCrory - Repub - said we would appeal that ruling. As of now, I don’t know the status of voter ID in NC if this is under appeal.

The only problem with the appeal is that our Attorney General is a Demonrat who is running for Governor - who will not do his duty and pursue the appeal.

Voter ID can stop a lot of the voter fraud and it only makes sense to have it.

I agree...I think they should do away with early voting AND require a voter ID...

The minority claim that they have a hard time getting an ID is BS...They have to have photo ID for their EBT (or whatever it’s called) welfare card usage among many other things....

To get just a state-issued ID in New Mexico costs $10 for a four-year ID, or just $18 for an eight-year ID.

That $18 is cheaper than a carton of cigs, case of Bud, any street-vendor's product, or a dinner for four at McD's.
