US military distances itself from Saudi-led war in Yemen

The US military is distancing itself from the Saudi-led coalition's war in Yemen following airstrikes against civilian targets, including hospitals.

The United States has withdrawn from Saudi Arabia a planning team that was coordinating with the coalition air campaign and moved it to Bahrain. The move is intended to better coordinate with naval commandes in Bahrain, Pentagon spokesman Adam Stump said.

The United States stepped up military assistance to the Saudi-led coalition in April, using tankers to refuel coalition jets bombing targets in Houthi rebels' territory to allow them to complete more missions, sharing intelligence, expediting deliveries of munitions, and establishing the planning cell that is now withdrawn.

We were giving air tanker support to Saudi airstrikes? That’s newsworthy. Wonder if Barak went to congress to ask? Probably not.

These Islamic Radicals put major military targets under civilians and hospitals all the time.
In WW2 you bombed away because Nazis did the same thing hiding behind civilians and hospitals.
If for the Saudis it is the same, then I am not sure they are wrong here.

You can not defeat an enemy where you give them safe zones.

Are we acting as paid mercenaries of the Saudi’s? Whose war is this really? The Viet Nam war silently bubbled under the surface for years just like this one.Followed by a napalm led bloodbath.

Yes, as we were under the Bushes. Perhaps not even paid. Although the Bushes were paid.

If Omugabe had been president in 1941, we would all be speaking German and/or Japanese.

Treasonous Manchurian Candidate Bastard!

We'll never see any military action authorized by Congress again. The Executive branch has consolidated far, far to much power in the last fifty years. There are no checks and balances on its actions any longer.

Best as I can tell, it's some sort of mutual assistance club. A supports a plan to give tax money to B's pals. Then B supports a plan to give tax money to A's pals.

No doubt, but blowing up targets that have collateral damage is not unusual.

Within Yemen there are three different Muslim sects, Al Qaeda AP, ISIS, Saudi Arabia, and a half dozen other local militias.........all shooting at each other and blowing each other up.

The Syrian civil war is more organized.

They need to kill a lot more of each other. Anything we can do to encourage more destruction is needed. For now, that means backing the Saudi’s. Truly war a go-go.
