Clinton Rises to 348 Electoral Votes, Trump Drops to 190
Sabato's Crystal Ball ^ | August 18, 2016 | Larry J. Sabato, Kyle Kondik and Geoffrey Skelley

New Hampshire may just have four electoral votes, but it’s important. If you doubt it, just ask any Granite State citizens, and they’ll tell you about their first-in-the-nation primary. Even that quartet of electoral votes can matter; in 2000, if Al Gore had just won them (and without Ralph Nader on the ballot, he probably would have), Gore would have been president even without Florida. He didn’t and he wasn’t.

Since 2000, we’ve watched New Hampshire become more reliable for the Democrats in presidential years. Neighbor John Kerry of Massachusetts won 50.2% in 2004, and Barack Obama easily carried the Granite State in 2008 (54.1%) and 2012 (52.0%). And now, Hillary Clinton is doing so well that her polling lead in the state is about seven-to-eight points, depending on the average, and now we’re ready to shift New Hampshire from Leans Democratic to Likely Democratic.

They keep Hillary way ahead because they plan cheating. The whole idea is to make all of us believe that it is over already to depress our vote.

They do run a risk after awhile of people staying home on their side because Hillary supposedly already won.

Oh, man, looks like it's all over. We could sure save a lot of money by forgetting the election and just swearing Hillary in now.

I love the smell of flop-sweat in the afternoon...

Sabato:

A trio of political data experts empanelled by FiveThirtyEight for a podcast earlier this month estimated Trump’s chances of snagging the (Republican) nomination at 2%, 0% and minus-10%, respectively.

“If Trump is nominated, then everything we think we know about presidential nominations is wrong,” Larry Sabato, head of the center for politics at the University of Virginia, wrote last week...”

Sabato is a longtime Democrat operative. I think he had Carter beating Reagan.

Hopefully the Trump campaign knows where their weaknesses are and will make the effort and spending to correct them. Everything from here on out depends on a smart, efficient campaign. He should stay away from the insults and focus more on the issues likely voters care about.

Don’t get me wrong, he should still go after Obama and Clinton with both barrels and everything he’s got, he should just keep it more civil and substantive. Don’t give the enemy more ammo to portray him as an exploding loose cannon.

is this like the hag coming away with a majority of the delegates after Sanders got most of the votes? Smelling like another skunk in the wood pile. It isn’t rigged, much.

“University of Virginia political scientist Larry Sabato has called for an investigation into the polling industry after election results showed that poll predictions were way off base...

“I want an investigation of the polls in Virginia,” Sabato said on Fox News’ Fox and Friends.” “They were completely wrong, just as they were in Georgia. They were also way off in Illinois. And I could go on and on.”

Prior to his time as a political analyst, Sabato worked for nine years with Virginia Democratic Party politician Henry Howell. At the age of 15, Sabato joined Howell’s first campaign for the Virginia governorship in 1968, and then worked on his successful run for lieutenant governor in 1971, and his campaigns for governor in 1973 and 1977.
