Y’all Politics releases 2016 MS General Election Poll - Trump leading Clinton by +15%
Y'all Politics ^ | Aug. 18, 2016 | Y'all politics

Posted on 08/18/2016 2:17:54 PM PDT by Innovative

Results from a statewide poll commissioned by Y’allPolitics and conducted by Magellan Strategies BR on August 11 show that Donald Trump holds a 15 point lead among likely voters over Hillary Clinton in a head-to-head matchup with Trump at 54% to Hillary Clinton’s 39%. When the field is expanded to third party candidates, Trump’s lead only erodes slightly to +13%.

Trump’s lead is deep and wide as he wins support from Mississippians in three of the four congressional districts and among both men and women.

Mississippi voters remain generally pessimistic about the state of the nation. Likely voters in Mississippi (both men and women) across all geographies say that the country is on the wrong track by a 68/32% margin. Democrats in Mississippi believe the country is on the right track 68/32%, but Republicans in Mississippi feel the country is on the wrong track by a staggering 95/5%.

For the purpose of comparison, Romney won Mississippi by 11.5% in 2012.

Interesting that Romney did so well there. Hope Trump will do better there and everywhere else.

This is one crazy election. If you want a poll showing Hillary ahead by 15 points, it’s there. If you want a poll showing Trump ahead by 15 points, it’s there.

Now, can anyone take the Romney 2012 score, add 4% and say what would be the result? On the basis of the popular vote 51%:47% this is enough.

It’s interesting to note that Trump will have a campaign rally in Jackson MS on Wednesday. Maybe he’s doing a fundraising event, and decided to have a rally as well. I couldn’t imagine Clinton even being close in MS.

Frankly, I’d say the Nevada poll is more informative, since NV is more representative of the nation as a whole than MS is.

We can have all the polls we want but the real issue is how badly the demodummies are allowed to cheat and cheat they will. That is what the do.

I have reservations on poll numbers...someone said on here the other day that the gap might be closing between Trump and Hillary so the people don’t get to comfortable with the lead the media is putting out on Hillary, so they don’t have to go vote, she’ll win, look how far ahead she is compared to Trump....remember that works both ways!!!

I suspect a lot more people are going to vote for Trump without advertising it.

Great numbers, but Mississippi is usually a Republican stronghold, isn’t it? I think we’d be in big trouble if were down in Mississippi.

I did polling in 2008. The big give-a-way, which was when I knew Obama was going to win wasn’t who they said they would vote for, but, the one question: Do you believe the country is going in the right direction or the wrong direction? Almost 75% said wrong direction. I knew then and there that obama would win - after 8 years of a Republican President. Same thing here with the same question. Screw the polls, Trump will win!

Well if the yee-haw politics blog says it’s true, then it’s true. Of course my cat could have told you that Trump would win Mississippi.
