Ryan Lochte, the US gold medal-winning swimmer, who claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janiero, has been ordered by a judge to remain in the country amid suggestions that they may have fabricated the incident. Federal police in Brazil stopped US team-mates Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger from boarding a flight to the United States at Rio de Janeiro's international airport on Wednesday, O Globo newspaper reported on its website. The swimmers, who were with Lochte during the alleged robbery, were taken off the plane for questioning, the newspaper said. Lochte, 32, one of the most decorated swimmers in Olympic history, left the country shortly before a judge ordered the confiscation of his passport amid a growing mystery about the alleged attack. A Brazilian judge issued an order on Wednesday to prevent their team-mates Ryan Lochte and James Feigen from leaving Brazil while police investigate their account of how the four US swimmers were robbed at gunpoint on Sunday. Police said they had further questions for him about the robbery after finding "little evidence" that it had taken place.

They probably went through that checkpoint a dozen times while they were there. All the have to do is take video from one of those other times and change the timestamp.
The news report just mentioned that they claim they don’t remember much due to intoxication. I wish I was kidding.

Lochte is back. Two of the others were just pulled from plane a couple hours or so ago in Rio. Apparently these two have not given statements to the authorities.
Why would they fabricate such a story? It would be foolish after so many wins.
I believe the swimmers and believe this is harassment for them leaking the truth to the world that they were victims. This is third world b.s. which is why a lot of people don’t report crimes even in the US. Also I don’t believe the media in the way they’re reporting this.

I don’t like this one bit. I haven’t read the thread, but this is very worrisome. They have no right to pull people off of a plane just to be “questioned.” No right to take away their passports.
Basically, we have Americans who were kidnapped. Will Obama do anything???
At this point, so do I. Weren't they finished with their swimming competitions when the robbery occurred? If so, what reason would they have to make up such a story? They claimed four men dressed as Rio police officers pulled them out of their cab and robbed them at gunpoint. It's probably true.

BS the police have every right to pull you off a plane in 99.9% of countries. That’s the way it goes, medal winners or not. Try it in the US and see how long you’re detained.
