Our intervention into Afghanistan may have affected the worldwide heroin market, but most US consumed heroin is grown in South America and Mexico (and by most I mean 90%).

The explosion in heroin use can really be better correlated to stricter enforcement on doctors who overprescribe pain pills.

Heroin is awful, but it won’t be solved by destroying crops in Afghanistan, South America, or anywhere else. As long as there is a demand for narcotics, somebody somewhere is going to supply some drug. The answer lies in the dated and mocked ‘just say no’ campaign to never start doing drugs in the first place.
