Report: China Could Make a Big Move in the South China Starting Next Month
The National Interest ^ | August 14th, 2016 | Harry J. Kazianis

Posted on 08/14/2016 4:15:25 PM PDT by Mariner

It seems if the People’s Republic of China is going to make a push to radically alter the status-quo in the South China Sea—by reclaiming the hotly disputed Scarborough Shoal that is clearly within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Philippines—we now have a good idea of when that might happen: sometime between early September, after the G-20 summit being hosted in China, and the U.S. presidential election on November 8th.

The idea was laid out in a recent article in the South China Morning Post in an article dated August 13th. The report, quoting “a source familiar with the matter”, said that Beijing would not carry out any reclamation work on the Shoal before hosting the G-20 next month but could begin construction before America goes to the polls. “Since the G20 will be held in Hangzhou next month, and regional peace will be the main topic among leaders of the great powers, China will refrain from [acting on the] reclamation plan,” explained the source, who was not identified.

We should encourage the Philippine Air Force to bomb them.

There’s nothing Amerika can do.

Move in Japan and wipe them out. We get all our stuff from China and don’t want to annoy them.

Besides, we haven’t had a president for almost eight years now, but we shouldn’t worry because there’s a fat, mentally ill old corrupt female that will fill the void.

Agreed. Follow the money and that is where a good chunk of the Clinton cash came from.

The Chinese are counting on Obama doing nothing as they could easily retaliate against the US with a crippling trade war.

They have no planes to bomb with.

Their F-5’s have been retired for years with no replacement.

Not really bright of them kicking the Americans out Clark.

Do they?

They should “take two steps forward and one step back” before the election.
Get what they want in the Sea- and give Obama a ‘win’ so Hillary will benefit.

Duterte is in bed with China.

But still Freepers cheer him on.

We fouled the nest in the Philippines.
We could have avoided the result back in the 50s.

Popular thought in the Philippines is that the Japanese would have never invaded in 41’ if the Americans hadn’t built Clark and Cavite.

You can’t fix stupid.

The shoals are a misdirection. Their real goal is Taiwan first. Yes, they will use the bases on the shoals to beef up the outer approaches to Taiwan, but their real objective is Taiwan. Typical classical Chinese strategy through misdirection.

The Phillipine Air Force? Are you serious? Here is their inventory:

FA-50, Trainer, (2)
Marchetti S-211, Trainer/light attack, (3)
OV-10 Bronco, light attack/surveillance, (10)
Alenia Aermacchi SF-260, light attack, (10)
Add a handful of training aircraft, some transports and a few helos.

It will be a very light attack followed by the end of the Phillipine Air Force.
