Exclusive: Turkish military officer seeking asylum in United States - U.S. officials

[snip]The two U.S. officials, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity, said the Turkish officer was working at the headquarters of NATO's Allied Command Transformation, located in Norfolk, Virginia. They did not name him or offer his rank.

However, an official at Turkey's embassy in Washington said Turkish Navy Rear Admiral Mustafa Ugurlu had failed to report to authorities after Turkey issued a detention order for him last month.

"On July 22, on that day he left his badges and his ID at the base and after that no one has heard anything from him," the official said, also speaking on condition of anonymity.

The Turkish official said he was unaware of a subsequent asylum request. An April news article on the NATO website identified Ugurlu as the Norfolk-based command's assistant chief of staff for command and control, deployability and sustainability.

The Turkish official said two other lower-level officers had also been called back from the United States to Turkey.

This may add to the anti-American sentiment rising in Turkey but considering to date, 22K people have been arrested related to the coup including 40% of military brass, it might have been a healthy idea for Ugurlu to take a stroll instead of returning to Turkey.

Those poor officers and their families. Obama would not have been my first choice as he has no backbone, nor a stomach for a imbroglio with Turkey.

Obama has turned the world into a circus and he is the clown.

I know I will be laughed at because it likely wont do much good, but my state rep is a good guy and conservative. So i sent him this:

PLEASE start hitting back at the republicans who are supporting hillary and senators who say they re voting for her!!!! romney backing a mormon to take some states away from trump, the media twisting every harmless word he says!!!! The debate folk trying to tweak rules to get the libertarian jerk on the stage, to only hurt Trump.

NO ONE is fighting for us. MAny are brutally angry and the republicans who dont fight for Trump will NEVER see office again. I wish that were true. Ryan won and he is going to screw us AND Trump over.

SOMEONE help us!!! we wont survive 4 years of hillary and i dont want a nuke going off in NYC because she gave 100 billion to iran!!!!

We need house conservatives to do their job!!!! That means also investigating how the votes are tallied and we are dealing with one of the most corrupt regimes ever to step into the white house.

Thank you

If it’s not a good idea, then it’s not worth pursuing. I’m no political genius. I just think that 50 or so hours members are true conservatives and can help us on some things.

But then, i’ve always been naive.

The Ryan thing has hit you hard, but you need to know that he wasn't ever going to NOT keep his house seat. Paul Nehlen would have had to given each voter in that district a crisp, new Benjamin and/or a sex act to successfully primary the guy. It is WISCONSIN, and that is that.

The place may be famous for cheese and have plenty of farmland, but it has some of the absolute worst political antecedents you will find outside of NY or IL. Progressives of both parties have used it as a petri dish for over a century, and they aren't likely to change.

Better hope it doesn't end up on Hillary's servers. Then everyone will have it!

Obama will not allow this. And, at the same time, note news that Ergogen and Putin are making nice.

-- A dilemma for NATO. --

What makes it a dilemma? I'm using the word "dilemma" in the strict sense of "no solution," or "no acceptable solution."

I never comprehended as you've explained, so ... thanx.

WI would be (imo, based on your explanation) a place NOT to choose a compatriot ... just because of the ingrained mindset.

Believe me you don’t want to keep this guy. This man helped send hundreds of officers to jail with fabricated evidence, accusing them of espionage, solicitation, etc.

These are not people you should feel sorry for. They felt no remorse when they fabricated evidence to send hundreds of officers to jail so that they could be promoted to those posts.
