TALLAHASSEE — Amid the threat of the Zika virus this summer, Democratic Senate candidate and U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, along with his new wife and hoped-for-successor in Congress, Dena Grayson, hosted a tele-town hall meeting to talk about healthcare with constituents.
“We need our champions in Congress, people like Dr. Grayson, who actually know about this issue and are willing to fight for it,” Rep. Grayson said in praising his wife during the June 8 call. She herself was engaged in a less politically oriented discussion on the origins and symptoms of the virus.
Unmentioned: Dena Grayson was a lobbyist for a pharmaceutical research company that she’s still invested in and consults for — and that could reap big profits from President Obama’s $1.9 billion package to fight Zika. Both Graysons have advocated for federal funding for Zika research, but legislation has stalled in Congress amid partisan gridlock.
Dena Grayson owns as much as $250,000 in stock in BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, a biomedical research company developing a potential Zika treatment, according to her 2016 financial disclosure to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Testifying before Congress in May, the head of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) cited BioCryst as an example of a company with a “promising drug candidate,” noting that federal drug researchers found it “protected immune-deficient mice infected with Zika virus.”
Both the congressman, who is running for the U.S. Senate, and his wife, who is running for Congress in Central Florida, refused to talk about the potential conflict-of-interest stemming from the BioCryst investments.

Speaking of judgement, how did a person with political ambition not see liability in marrying someone named Lolita? Take her on an extended auto vacation, perhaps but actually MARRY her? What a nitwit.

Dr. Walter Reed brought Yellow Fever to an end by simple measures. A real dragnet of people went through areas were the disease was and they emptied all water containers and spread oil on waters that were the mosquitos breeding grounds. Of course today that is totally Politically Incorrect on many different levels.

Grayson is running against Rubio...it’s a hold-your-nose moment. Rubio still has a conservative candidate to compete with, but it is as if he were “hiding his light under a bushel”.
